Invisible Truck

We live in a world that just loves audacious, loud, in-your-face cars and trucks. This is not a new phenomenon, of course. As long as hot rodding has existed, hot rodders have built machines that are loud both visually and audibly. But on the other end of the spectrum, you've got rides like this incredibly innocuous 1951 Ford F1, which we spotted over at Streetside Classics. Painted in the most invisible tan/tan two-tone paint job possible, it couldn't be any different from what you usually see on these early trucks.

What Are You Hiding?

There's certainly nothing on the outside of this truck to make you believe that it's anything other than a clean, classic Ford. Obviously, anyone can spot its lowered stance, but outside of that, most everything is period correct and/or stock in appearance. It's all very well done, of course, from the quality of the paint to the impeccable chrome. Nothing to suggest that there's anything special going on under the hood. And yet, there is.

Like a Boss

That something special is a fresh, real-deal Boss 302 V8. Hiding within that immaculate engine bay is a unique powerplant sporting a mere 6,000 miles. The legendary motor has been treated to components including an Edelbrock intake and carb, headers, and an MSD ignition. It's good enough for 348 dyno-proven horsepower, which isn't too bad at all. And with a Tremec TKO500 five-speed manual transmission behind it, we're guessing this old F1 is pretty darn fun to drive, too.

Modern Comfort

This shouldn't come as a surprise, but the interior of this clean F1 isn't anything that'll offend the eyes. Just more tan on tan action, hues that cover a pair of comfy looking power bucket seats. Modern amenities include a new stereo with iPhone connectivity, R134a air conditioning, a Flaming River tilt column, and sharp looking banjo-style steering wheel.

Under the Radar

As you might've guessed by now, that nicely raked stance comes courtesy of some suspension upgrades, including a Mustang II-style independent front end. You'll also find tubular A-arms and disc brakes up front. Everything about this mild F1 is designed to make it a cool cruiser, including a Walker aluminum radiator and electric fan. So if you're a fan of flying under the radar in a sharp truck, look no further!
