Fine Example

Pickup styling really evolved in the '50s and '60s, and as we all know, Ford led the way in that regard. By the mid-'60s, Ford trucks were beginning to really take the overall shape they would retain for decades. And with just a bit of mild and tasteful customization, this '66 F-100 we spotted at Duffy's Classic Cars is one fine example of the breed.

One Color Choice

Black looks good on any truck, but it looks especially good on this one. Lest we forget, the great Henry Ford once told us we could have any color we wanted on his creations, so long as it was this one. And hey, as clean and classy as this F-100 looks adorned in the dark hue, who can blame him?

Red and Black

Thankfully, the previous owner left all that shiny chrome intact. While some prefer the shaved look, we think these '60s Ford trucks look just fine with all their trim in place. The red/chrome badges and matching steel wheels also provide a perfect contrast for this classic color combo.

Classic Theme

That classic theme continues in the cab, where you'll find a beautifully done red and black theme with white inserts in the bench seat. Most everything here is original or original style, save for the padded dash cover, which is a nice touch.

New and Old

The headliner and carpet have been replaced, but that's about it. The original heater, steering wheel, and dash are just a few of the goodies that haven't been changed. And though you'll notice the floor shifter, it's actually attached to a C3 automatic transmission, not a manual.

Show Piece

Pop the hood, and you'll be treated to a real visual delight. The 302 V8 that rests between the frame rails of this stunning F-100 is highly detailed and a showpiece in its own right.

Small Things

There are a few goodies here, but not too much. Mostly just a 650 cfm Holley carb, Ford Racing wires, and lots of chrome. The engine breathes through dual exhaust with glass pack mufflers, and power is sent back to a 9-inch rear end fitted with 3.50 gears.

More Special

The previous owner didn't bother updating much else on this pretty truck. In fact, it still has four-wheel drum brakes. But this F-100 is a great example of why you don't really need to do a whole lot to make these '60s trucks look even more special than they already do.

Show Stopper

All you need is the right truck, painted the right color, some polish, and some elbow grease. And with a little work and a few repairs, you can easily transform a regular classic pickup into something truly show worthy!
