Spied in Dearborn

Following up the revisions made to the F-150 that will hit later this year, Ford has now turned the scalpel on the Super Duty for some freshening up.  Let's check out these shots of the Super Duty that was caught out testing around the Dearborn assembly plant.

Changes are coming

While on the exterior side of this Super Duty, the truck looks to have an updated front end with new headlights and around back there are new taillights. Ford has only mildly updated the exterior of this F-450 Super Duty Platinum from what we can see and the vehicle should hit in late 2018 as a 2019 model year.

Strategic hiding places

Due to the camo, we can't really make out any obvious changes but the placement of said camo leads us to suggest that we there will be tweaks to the upper and lower grille in addition to the tailgate. We'd put good money on these areas receiving some of the changes that the new F-150 will receive.

Ford's newest transmission

One particular change that may be hiding underneath the skin of the F-450 is a new powertrain. Ford could bring the new 10-speed automatic transmission to their line of heavy-duty pickup trucks. The transmission is the fruit of a partnership between Ford and GM with it debuting in the 2017 Raptor. The transmission will be standard on the upcoming Expedition and most variants of the 2018 F-150.

F-Series dominance

F-Series trucks are increasingly being used not just for trips to and from work but also running errands like grocery shopping and taking driving kids to school. The evolution of these trucks really has been something to be seen with how Ford is building these more than capable vehicles that also have a versatility about them that's to be applauded. The entire F-Series sells more trucks than any other model in America.
