Cars With a Cause

Before we even get into the specifics of this head-turning creation, we have to talk about the roots of the shop responsible for the build. Swag Custom Rides have become known for their outside-the-box ideas and methods in building and restoring classic cars. But perhaps the most amazing aspect of their operation is the fact that they're a non-profit organization. Swag trains and employs folks who are on a path to recovery, and helps them build a life and future.

Built For Charity

And this particular project came about in collaboration with the Special Olympics Foundation and Barrett-Jackson. The amazing project was completed in a mere four months, leading up to the Mustang/F-100 mashup being auctioned off. All proceeds from the sale were directed to the Special Olympics Foundation, in an inspiring act of charity.

Going to Work

The plan from the start was clear. The folks at Swag wanted to create an F-100 restomod with BOSS Mustang flair. Luckily, their donor truck was in decent shape. The shop immediately went to work on modifications on the exterior. They also wanted to put their signature touch of manufacturing quality on the build. Many of the Mustang-inspired parts were fabricated from scratch or modified from existing units to fit the truck.

Underpinnings

Once the exterior was sorted out, it was time to figure out the mechanical elements. The Roadster Shop provided the chassis, already equipped with top-notch suspension parts like a RideTech air-ride system and QA1 double-adjustable shocks. Wilwood disk brakes were part of the package, too. And that's helpful considering the shop's choice of powertrain. Under the hood, Swag decided to go with Ford's supercharged Coyote 5.0 V8, tuned to put down 750 horses to the rear wheels!

Beautiful Cabin

Swag's quality touch can be found on the inside as well. The custom seats are covered in beautiful tan leather. The leather trim can also be found on the dashboard, the doors, as well as the headliner. Much of the interior creature comfort functionalities and the air suspension system can be controlled via the iPad that lives in the truck's center console. A nice modern touch.

Making a Difference

Rounding things off is the classy Bubinga wood bed, complementing the custom-mixed red metallic paint. 20x9 Torq Thrust wheels complete the look of the BOSS F-100 build. Before the truck was sold at a Barrett-Jackson auction, Ford Racing team member Joey Logano added a signed plaque to the dashboard, raising the project's value even higher. The proceeds for the sale will be making a positive impact in the world.
