Rock n' Roll Model A is Clowning Around
A-bone hot rod definitely falls into the 'why be normal' category.
Creepy Hum
The Mooneyes headlight covers give this 1931 Model A pickup loads of character. Packed with rock n' roll appeal and a big Pontiac V8, it is hard not to hum Little Richard's famous lyric, “Good Golly Miss Molly, sure like to ball.” All part of the fun, creepy clown details and a curious patina make for one bopping ride.

Tight Ride
On consignment with Classic Auto Mall in Morgantown, Pennsylvania, the hot rod is going for a cool $22,500. Barely practical, and somewhat comfortable, this 'A-bone' pickup is all about tire-roasting and clowning around—literally. Classic Auto Mall described the 'Drive-Ability' as having unending acceleration, decent handling, tight steering, and good brakes. In their words, “One helluva ride!”
Ribbed Feed
Fulfilling the “sure like to ball” part of the equation is a 455 cubic-inch big block motor, with an output of 360 horsepower. The detailed engine is painted and trimmed with classic-looking, ribbed valve covers. A triple bank of two-barrel Rochester carburetors, capped with individual air cleaners, supplies more than enough gas to feed the potent powerplant.
Tank Ideas
It might be business in the front, but it is all party in the back. A stainless beer keg has been drafted into service as the gas tank. There is a bit of space in the box for stuff, but Classic Auto Mall has other ideas. They candidly state, “We can haul something in the back, but for right now it's gonna be just ass...”
Scary Buff
The rear of the Model A has creepy embellishments from It, the terrifying killer-clown movie released by New Line Cinema in 2017. A strange addition, the red paint looks like it would easily buff out. A Muncie M21 4-speed manual transmission channels all the 'scary' power back to a 3.73 ratio, Ford 9" pumpkin. Meaty 235/75/R15 rear tires hook it all up.
Welcome Rake
Another horror reference adorns the hood as a caricature of Stephen King's creepy clown character, Pennywise. Back to functional reality are a set of blackwall 215/70/R14 front tires wrapped around five-aluminum slot wheels. The 'big and little' wheel combo makes for a nice 'rubber rake.' A metal visor tops the flat windshield, adding a welcome touch of hot rod attitude.
Gritty Spots
The paint job, or lack thereof, is a horror show in its own right. The whole truck appears to be coated in the textured spray. The only exception to the gritty surface is the blood-red firewall and dash. Free of textured paint, the underside of the pickup is in very good condition with minimal rust in the usual spots.
Normal Splatter
The interior is covered in gray carpet, with a brown remnant section as a floor mat. Sandwiched together in the tight cab is a pair of comfortable-looking, high-back racing-style seats. The B&M T-handle shifter was not spared the blood splatter motif. Part rock n' roll and part clown-ride, this Model A definitely falls into the 'why be normal' category.
