Daily Slideshow: ProCharged V8 Ford Raptor Is the Off-Roader We Want
We love any Raptor we come across, but this monstrous, blown 1st gen might just take the cake.
Problem Solver
When the Ford Raptor debuted back in 2010, it was nothing short of a revelation. We had seen plenty of high-performance factory-built trucks before, but nothing like this. The Raptor was built not only to go fast on paved roads but dominate unpaved ones as well.
But the very first Raptors were, shall we say, a bit underpowered if you simply opted for the standard 310 hp 5.4-liter V8. But even the optional (and later standard) 6.2-liter, 411 hp V8 wasn't enough for the previous owner of this 2012 Raptor, which we spotted over at Gateway Classic Cars.
Looks Can Be Deceiving
Even though this is one of the more powerful Raptors around, you'd never be able to tell on the surface. This looks like nothing more than an exceptionally clean 2012 SuperCab, after all. One with immaculate metallic blue paint and a mostly stock appearance.

Dropping Hints
The only deviations from stock are a set of custom taillights, fog lights, and a bed cover and mat. Nothing that would ever really tip you off to what's really going on underneath it all. Even the interior is 100% stock, save for one minor detail.

Barely Broken In
This Raptor is also essentially brand new, as it only has 10,000 miles on the odometer. We're not sure what would possess anyone to not drive a Raptor, but here it is. And today, that makes it more desirable for those who can't see themselves driving a new V6-powered Raptor.

Not Your Average Pickup
All of those characteristics make this Raptor special in its own right. A well preserved first-gen model that could very well prove to be a collectible in the future. But if you lift the hood or stomp the loud pedal, it quickly becomes clear that this isn't your average performance pickup.

Power Adder
Because, well, this thing has quite a few more ponies than it originally came with. Thanks, of course, to one large power adder that's more popular in drag and street racing than it is on regular road-going (or off-road going) vehicles.

Hidden Detail
You'd never know that this Raptor had any sort of power adder, either, if not for the boost gauge mounted on one of the interior vents. But that one little-missed detail might just cost you a race if you're unlucky enough to line up next to this Raptor at a stoplight.

Can't-Miss Combo
Lift the hood, however, and there's no mistaking the fact that this Raptor is using a large ProCharger to crank things up a bit. If you miss the supercharger itself, you certainly can't miss the color-matched housing or tubing mounted on top of the 6.2-liter V8.

Crank It Up
That one little detail is good enough to crank horsepower up from the factory rating of 411 all the way to 630 raging ponies. Which should be more than enough to light up all four BF Goodrich off-road tires, if you really wanted to.

Wolf in Wolf's Clothing
And that's enough to make this first-gen Raptor perhaps the ultimate sleeper. In lighter SuperCab configuration, it's obviously blazing fast. And if we had this bad boy in our garage, our first victim would likely be an overconfident second-gen Raptor owner!
