Time Machine

It certainly isn't every day that you come across a truck, originally designed and built to be a work horse, that's nearly 30 years old and has just 13k miles on the clock. But that's exactly the case with this pristine 1991 Ford F-350 that we spotted over at Mecum Auctions. And today, this big old crew cab looks like it just stepped out of a time machine.

Fire Truck

So how does a truck like this go so long without being used, hardly at all? Like many older, low mileage pickups, this one was owned by a fire department. Thus, it saw little action over the years and remained in storage when it wasn't being used.

Curious Decision

As a result, the heavy-duty, one-ton F-350 only has 13,117 miles on the clock and looks absolutely perfect. Regardless, the listing surprisingly states that the truck has been repainted and fitted with new wheels and tires. The latter we can understand, but we're curious as to why anyone would have repainted this gem.

Seeking Perfection

Perhaps they just wanted it to be perfect. Or maybe it suffered some bumps and bruises along the way. Either way, there's no denying that the rest of this pickup is in pretty amazing condition as well. That includes the matching red interior, which looks like it's barely been sat in.

Quick Response

This luxurious cruiser packs quite a few amenities inside, too. They include things like air conditioning, an AM/FM stereo, and of course, a CB radio and fire extinguisher. This particular pickup was used as a brush truck, so it's more of a quick response vehicle that can get to the scene faster than a big old, traditional fire truck.

Hanging Out

Packing a 460 V8 and C6 automatic transmission, this ultra-clean F-350 certainly has the guts for that job, too. And today, it's a nice reminder of what made these trucks so cool when they were new. All it took was a life of hanging out at the fire station, and the occasional heroic deed to preserve it for so long.
