Hit the Ground Running

This summer, Ford announced the roll out of three new off-road performance accessory packages for their 2019 and 2020 Ford Ranger pickups. The packages are set to generate further excitement around the truck's 2019 fourth-generation revival while adding elements of personalization and off-road options to the build like never before.

Next Level

Ford's new performance trim packages will be available in three distinct "levels." What was the motivation behind making performance level packages available? According to Ford Ranger driver feedback, owners added an average of around $650 worth of performance accessory options following the purchase of their new truck. The Ford dealer-installed accessory levels are intended to allow drivers the flexibility to choose the package that best suits their needs and taste while promoting synchronicity in fit and style.

Mountain High

Each of Ford's three new packages for the four-wheel-drive Ranger include an off-road leveling kit complete with FOX Shocks, 17-inch Dyno Gray brand wheels, and graphics illustrating "Ford Performance" on both the truck bed and as a banner on the windshield. The packages range in cost from $3,000 to $9000 on the vehicle's MSRP before installation fees.

Adventure Ahead

The "Ford Performance Level 1" package includes FOX 2.0 floating piston monotube front and rear shocks intended to optimize both on and off-road performance. Each sequential package includes all the content beneath it. So "Ford Performance Level 2" equipment includes those same FOX 2.0 Performance Shocks as well as BFGoodrich off-road tires, a fog-light kit, and performance engine calibration that increases the truck's horsepower by 16 percent.

Off-Road Ready

The Ranger's Ford Performance Level 3 package adds a Rigid-brand 40-inch LED lighter kit, red-colored tow hooks, and an ARB winch-capable bumper on the truck's font. Level 3 also features a chase rack and a 2.3-liter sport exhaust kit. The 40-inch LED light will be ideal whether you're illuminating a campsite or torpedoing down your favorite trail at dusk.

Shock to the System

Ford's new accessories offerings will expand even further when Performance Packages will be announced for the new Ford Bronco. The end game is to further enhance and develop Ranger and Bronco drivers relationships with Ford Dealerships rather than continued reliance on DIY personalization so often reliant on aftermarket outfitters. Time will tell how this Ford-centric approach will appeal to off-road enthusiasts.
