Enter Pandem

Pandem is an aftermarket auto tuning company. They are particularly known for taking vehicles you would not otherwise style and completely redo them in widebody fashion. With Tokyo Auto Salon happening this weekend, they couldn't have picked a better opportunity to stun the show with this wild creation. This is where the vehicle will first debut. Next year, we can expect to see it at SEMA in Las Vegas.

The specimen

Everyone loves a good, full-size pickup truck. A crowd favorite is the Ford Raptor. This is the upgraded new brother of its counterpart, the Ford F-150. Its 450-hp twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 and paddle-shifted 10-speed automatic can push it from 0-60mph in 5.1 seconds. It also features all-wheel drive, bigger tires, heavy-duty dampers, and wider body panels. Available as SuperCab and SuperCrew models.

What is a widebody kit?

All cars have body panels that make up the design and overall "body" of the car. A widebody kit enhances all or some of the profound panels to lighten the car for racing purposes or to simply add some aesthetic appeal. Most commonly. bumpers are the usual candidates. Nowadays, you can find fender flares for each corner of the car as well as 3/4 panels. Kits are often comprised of a composite material such as fiberglass.

Who makes wide body kits?

There are several aftermarket automotive tuning companies that design, build and install various kits on various vehicles. Some popular names are Liberty Walk Kato and Pandem. In Tokyo, Japan, this type of vehicle styling is very popular. It is not uncommon to see many vehicles modified with a widebody kit.

Defining the monster

What you'll notice about their creation is the lowered stance, large front lip spoiler, bulging fenders and panels and those beefy tires, courtesy of Toyo Tires. This is your already enhanced Ford F-150, now on steroids! Not practical for everyday use, but sure to turn heads at shows, car meets and other auto events!
