Back at it again

A certain Ford dealership in Ohio who gained notoriety after selling Mustang GTs with 700 horsepower is back at it again with something for the pickup crowd. Beechmont Ford is waging "horsepower war" on the rest of the pickup class by planning to take 2018 F-150 XL Sports and giving them 725 horsepower in an homage to the venerable SVT Lightning.

That's quite the deal

For the low low price of just $37,995, Beechmont will take that new XL Sport off the floor and throw a 2.9-liter Gen 3 Whipple supercharger on to push performance to 725 horsepower and 675 lb-ft of torque. Yes, you heard that right. For just under $38K, you can have the F-150 with an engine that produces 725 horsepower and 675 lb-ft of torque. For about the same price, customers can also opt for a ROUSH supercharger if they'd prefer another brand for power. However, if they choose the ROUSH path, the power will take a dip to 640 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque.

Catering to customer's needs

As was the case with the overpowered Mustangs Beechmont produced, the dealership will work with customers to adjust the trim of the F-150 to each cases' needs and with over 65,000 performance parts in stock, each truck will be unique. "The process starts with our performance team mapping out a game plan," said Charlie Watson, marketing manager at Beechmont. "Once we know what that end goal is, we build accordingly!"

Piece of mind is extra

The unfortunate news about getting in at the cheapest level is that Ford won't cover you if any damage occurs to the powerplant as a result of the supercharger. But everything can be fixed if you throw enough money at it. So, for a little more money, you can get a warranty with the Whipple supercharger that will cover you for three years, 36,000 miles.

What could be next?

The Whipple mated F-150s can be purchased very soon with some saying you can snag one right away although we have yet to hear of one in the wild. The Roush F-150s are available for preorder that will arrive after around two months.

Beechmont said it is far from being done in the "horsepower wars" and another vehicle will be coming soon for the next stage of this wild campaign against boredom.
