Evos

Ford's long-term initiative to slowly replace its entire sedan lineup with SUVs and crossovers has brought a new model to the Chinese market. The Ford Evos nameplate first made an appearance about a decade ago in the form of a cool-looking, gullwing door crossover concept, with styling cues that seemingly inspired future Ford SUVs like the famous Mach-E.

China-Only Crossover

Earlier this week, the manufacturer unveiled the Evos production crossover, which is said to be exclusive to the Chinese market. At least for now. As Ford expands its presence in the country with what they're calling the 'China 2.0' plan, there is a new model, which appears to have a similar platform to the aforementioned Mach-E EV.

Similarities to the Mach E

Even in side view, the Evos has similarities with the electric car. Though, Ford designers have done well to differentiate the look of the Evos. The China-only vehicle features fresh new styling features in the front and rear. It follows the company's current DNA, while adding a more edgy, modern flair.

Impressive Interior

The interior of the Evos is even more impressive than the exterior. The centerpiece is the screen plate which runs across the dashboard from behind the steering wheel all the way to the passenger side. The instrument cluster is a 12.3-inch display, while the remainder of the pad is a massive 27-inch display that can be controlled by both the driver and the passenger.

Partial Autonomous Capability

On the tech side, the vehicle will feature level 2+ autonomous driving, which allows hands-free driving in 'blue-zone' designated areas. We await further details on the new crossover's powertrain and drivetrain options. It's unknown at this time whether it will be offered by Ford outside of China. The fact that Ford claims the Evos has been developed for the Chinese market might suggest it won't be sold elsewhere.
