New Aftermarket Package Transforms Ranger Into Raptor Clone
Those looking to transform their Ranger into a hardcore off-roader now have yet another great option to get the job done.
Perfect Substitute
Since Ford has thus far refused to bring the Ranger Raptor to America, a couple of aftermarket companies have stepped in to fill that void. The latest is Automotive Performance Group, a California-based outfit that now sells complete conversion packages designed to transform a regular Ranger into a trail-dominating beast. And needless to say, they look pretty cool, too.

Going Wide
APG's ProRunner Series 1 conversion package is designed to work on 2019-2020 Rangers in either two-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive configuration. And it isn't just a suspension upgrade, either. The kit comes equipped with carbon fiber front fenders and bed sides, both of which widen the pickup by a whopping 10-inches. In addition, the fuel door and housing are fashioned from carbon fiber as well.

Fully Equipped
APG's package also includes a wicked-looking powder-coated aluminum front bumper that's winch-capable and designed to house a slew of LED lighting. The bumper is also designed to incorporate OEM parking sensors and fog lights, so you won't have to sacrifice any of your factory goodies. Throw in some D-rings and you've got a pretty nice setup.

Additional Options
If you want to go a little further on the exterior, APG has you covered there as well. Among the wide assortment of options available, buyers can opt to add a Warn 8000-S winch, an aluminum rear bumper with D-rings, a Factor 55 Fairlead and ProLink, KC HiLites lighting for the bumpers and roof rack, and an sPOD light controller.

Suspension Upgrades
Of course, APG's ProRunner Ranger package attacks the suspension and upgrades it for serious off-road use as well. The heart of this setup is a long travel suspension system capable of providing an impressive 12.5-inches of travel. The package also includes wider upper and lower control arms, a tie rod extension kit with FK rod ends, extended front axle shafts, front hubcentric wheel rings, front coilover spacers, CNC-machined rear wheel adapter/spacers, and Gorilla lug nuts.

Leaving It Open
Interestingly enough, there are a few things that APG's ProRunner conversion kit doesn't come with. That includes wheels, tires, and shocks, but that's by design. Most buyers want to choose their own, so this gives you the option of doing so without having to pay for something you don't want. Of course, APG also offers several shock, wheel, and tire options if you want to keep the whole process in house.

Talking Money
So what does all this goodness cost, you ask? The ProRunner Series 1 conversion package starts out at $10,573 without installation and increases to $15,948 with installation and paint. This seems like a pretty good deal considering what you get, and that's high-quality components designed and manufactured in the U.S. And until Ford finally decides to bring the Ranger Raptor to our shores, it's about as close as you're gonna get, anyway!
