The First and Second Life

Do you wish you could own an ex-NBA player's former car? Well, this individual was able to live the dream, and then some, by remodeling Clifford Robinson's 2000 Ford Excursion. For those of you who do not know who Clifford Robinson is, he may not be Kobe, but he did have a long 18-year career in NBA. Playing for several teams which include the Trail Blazers, the old Warriors, Nets, Pistons, and Suns. Originally, Robison paid a whopping $124 thousand dollars for the customization work performed by Canepa design on his Ford Excursion for a variety of different features. Some of which include upgraded lighting, custom fit wheel flares, 17 x 10-inch alloy wheels, and an upgraded sound system to name a few. The small photo on the bottom is what the car originally looked like following the redesign by Canepa, with a nice dark red paint job.

The Teardown

Following the purchase, the Excursion was scrapped for a lot of its components such as the seats, center console, supercharger, bumpers, lights, and wheels to name a name a few. This means that this project was a complete teardown and redesign, which is very interesting and warrants the question of how things turned out. It is also interesting to note that prior to the teardown, the Excursion had only around 50,000 miles logged on it.

The Paint Job

The final results are not half bad and overall, the finished look came out quite well. The Harley-Davidson color scheme between the black top, slight hint of orange down the middle, and a gray bottom half transform the look of the SUV. Compared to the original red, the new color dynamic is quite the upgrade and very eye-popping. The details are rather well done, not to mention the H-D rims riding on 35-inch tires. All in all, the extra features add new breadth to the vehicle.

The Excursion

The grill, combined with the front bumper, really does a great job of heightening the aggressive look of this Excursion. The paint job brings everything together nicely as well. You could really say that this car is beginning to look like a Ford truly ready to lead an Excursion. Not to mention, it has the power and ability to do so given its 6.8L V10 engine.

The Interior

The interior came out just as great as the exterior modifications. Compared to the beige seats that were originally in the car, the incorporation of H-D black seats is a great modification.
With the addition of custom door panels, this Excursion is turning into quite the tank both on the inside and out.
