Saleen Automotive, renowned for its high-performance Ford Mustang builds, has ventured into off-road territory with its limited-edition Bronco “Big Oly” tribute. The vehicle pays homage to the legendary Baja 1000-winning Ford Bronco driven by off-road racing icon Parnelli Jones in the 1970s. Unlike Saleen’s previous kits, this tribute features extensive mechanical upgrades, making it a capable off-roader rather than just a visual throwback.
The Original Big Oly
The original Big Oly, named after its Olympia Beer sponsorship, became a motorsport legend after dominating the grueling Baja 1000 race twice. Jones set a record in 1971, finishing the race in 11 hours and 55 minutes—five hours faster than the previous year’s winner. The Bronco earned a place in automotive history, and in 2021, the original Big Oly fetched $1.87 million at auction, setting a record for classic Broncos.

Saleen has not announced specific production numbers or pricing for the Bronco “Big Oly” tribute. The company has confirmed that orders are now open through its U.S. dealerships, but only a limited number will be produced. As Steve Saleen, founder of Saleen Automotive, explained, the Bronco "Big Oly" is for enthusiasts who grew up admiring Saleen’s high-performance legacy but now crave adventure beyond paved roads.
