Ripe for the Picking

Everybody knows that it's much more economical to buy a truck that's already been restored than to drop the money required to do it yourself. And there are plenty of nicely restored pickups out there in the world ripe for the picking. That certainly applies to this super clean and attractive '71 Ford F-100 we spotted over at Mecum Auctions, too.

Slight Throwback

For starters, we're especially digging the mint and white two-tone paint scheme. It's quite refreshing to the eye, you might say. The previous owner left much of the rest alone, save for some grille inserts and a set of billet aluminum wheels. Overall, the look is more of a clean '90s-style cruiser than anything else.

Nicely Balanced

With a wider set of rear rubber, this truck also has a nice hot rod stance. It's quite a clean and understated look, but one that we can certainly appreciate. Oftentimes, people just go too far with these builds. But this one strikes a nice balance between original and modified.

Mostly Factory

That theme continues to the cab, where you'll find an equally clean appearance accentuated by a select few tasteful mods. The steering wheel is an aftermarket piece that looks like it belongs here, while everything else is mostly factory.

Easy Cruising

All of what you see has been redone, however. And it certainly looks brand new. That includes air conditioning, which is always a welcome thing on hot summer days. The truck also sports power steering and power disc brakes for easy cruising.

Fuel Injected

The 289 V8 under the hood has also been completely gone through and features a fuel-injection setup that makes the truck more reliable and efficient to drive. It's backed up by a three-speed automatic transmission and sends power back to a rear-end stuffed with brand new axles.

Fit to Cruise

This classic Ford truck is a perfect example of the kind of tasteful restoration job fit to drive just about anywhere. And that's exactly the way we like them. Whether you're looking for a weekend cruiser or just something you can take to town now and then, we can't think of a better way to do either.
