Daily Slideshow: Low-Mile 1988 Ford F-150 Is a Flat-Nosed Find
The F-150 was maturing in 1988. The 4.9 Liter inline-six, 5.8 Liter V8, and 7.5 Liter V8 engines gained electronic fuel injection, custom trim was back in style, and a five-speed manual overdrive transmission replaced the previous 4-speed manual. Today its popularity is on the rise.
1. Taking Note
Finding a vintage Ford truck in fantastic condition isn't too hard these days. Pickups built in the '60s and prior have long enjoyed a huge following, after all. So parts are plentiful and values remain high as the many fans of these early gen F-Series pickups continue to scoop them up and collect them. The same cannot be said of pretty much anything from 1980 and up, at least not historically. But now, we're beginning to see more and more interest in these flat-nosed trucks than ever before!

2. Like Brand New
More interest, of course, means higher price tags. But it also means that incredible, original examples like this 1988 Ford F-150 are starting to pop up for sale. This particular beauty looks nearly as good as the day it rolled off the assembly line. And now it's up for grabs over at Primo Classics.

3. Just the Right Combination
The short bed, regular cab pickup has pretty much everything you'd want from this particular era. The XLT Lariat is about as well-equipped as it got back in 1988, and this truck is even a four-wheel drive. And did we mention that it's absolutely beautiful?

4. Well Preserved
The seller claims that this F-150 shows only 41,000 original miles on the odometer, and we have no reason to doubt that. In fact, it looks like it only has around 4,100 miles. That's a testament to the previous owner, who clearly knows how to take care of a vehicle.

5. Keeping It Stock
From every angle, this 1988 F-150 is absolutely perfect. And from what we can gather, 100% bone stock. Which is a good thing when you're looking at any used vehicle. We'd rather buy an untouched original than somebody's failed project any day, after all!

6. Fond Memories
The interior is no less worse for wear, either. Sitting in this thing has got to be a real time warp for those of us who remember looking at these trucks on dealer lots back in the '80s. Heck, just looking at it brings back plenty of warm fuzzy memories from a full three decades ago!

7. Timeless Style
The styling of '80s Ford trucks isn't anywhere near as popular as prior decades. And we think that's a shame. For us, the squared-off haunches of this F-150 are clean, simple, and rather attractive. Throw in a timeless two-tone paint job, and you've got a real stunner!

8. The Right Stuff
And what better color combination is there than blue and silver? Red and white (not to mention teal) was obviously a hugely popular combo from this era, so it's nice to see something a little more subdued. And on this short-wheelbase F-150, it works absolutely perfectly.

9. Taking Care
You won't find any dents or scratches on this amazing survivor, either. Clearly, the previous owner parked a mile away from his destination everywhere he went. And probably waxed it once a week. The only change on the outside is a new set of rubber, which was obviously a good idea after 30 years.

10. Bask in Its Glory!
At least for now, this is easily the nicest 1988 F-150 we've ever seen. But thankfully, we're guessing that'll change as more and more people begin to appreciate these boxy trucks. But for now, let's just bask in the glory that is this lightly used Lariat!
