Who is Jeremy Dixon?

If you don't know by now, you should. He's a humble guy in Tucson Arizona who isn't interested in taking over the world or even making a name for himself. He's just a guy who loves trucks. Everything about trucks. He's obsessed with parts and the building process. He has a creative calling to take something fairly ordinary and turn it into something spectacular and his company, aptly called F250R, outfits F-250s with Ford Raptorlike front fascias and enormous tires, giving F-150 Raptors and Hummer H2s a serious inferiority complex.

Some people may think this is a fool's errand. Afterall, the F-150 Raptor has extreme off-road racing shocks, a 450-hp turbocharged V6, and a fluid 10-speed transmission. But there is always room for bigger and badder so Dixon offers another choice: the F-250 MegaRaptor!

What Dixon does

Case in point is this stock F-250 which he modified by adding widened and heightened fenders on all four corners. He also installed a thick fiberglass front end and rear fenders with embedded LED Lights to make it look like an F-150 Raptor busting out of its Venice Beach tank top. Stand it up next to a factory F-250 (pictured above) and, well, you can see what you get: Jeremy Dixon's take on what the heavy duty F-250 body would look like if it was suddenly and quite magically transformed into an armor-plated Raptor.

But wait there's more

But for Dixon, that's only the beginning. In order to get the tires to fit, Dixon and crew must install a 4-inch lift kit, as well as a set of Bilstein 5100 shocks. Heavy-duty ten-lug military patterns are fitted all around to accommodate the wheels. Once that is done, he drops 46-in Michelin XZL tires into the wheel wells making the F250R one of the most intimidating muscle trucks on or off the road. And to make this Schwarzenegger of a truck even more impressive, the 46-in Michelins are mounted on aluminum rims from a military battle machine known as the MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) unit and are rated at 10,000 lbs.

Mega power to match its mega size

Though owners can opt for the conversion on F-250s with the 6.2-liter gasoline V8, Dixon highly recommends the 6.7-liter turbo-diesel V8 because, obviously, big wheels need big torque. According to Gabe Kiser of CarBuzz, who got to climb in behind the wheel and drive one of Dixon's Raptors, "the gasoline V8, given extra power like its diesel cousins using an ECU tune, have no trouble propelling the truck off the line." Despite being a breeze to drive in the city, Kiser points out that the truck's towering frame forced him to remain aware of low-hanging branches and its wide footprint made getting around buses... interesting.

How to cage one of these beasts

The process of owning a unique MegaRaptor (pictured above with Jeremy Dixon and a Hummer H2) or it's baby brother, the SuperRaptor, is rather simple: Send your donor Ford F-250 Super Duty truck to them with a $1,000 deposit, and F250R will make your dream come true. Aside from the $1,000 deposit to reserve a spot on their build schedule, and the cost of the donor truck, the SuperRaptor conversion (which is more modest) will cost you $25,900. If you want the extreme MegaRaptor, the conversion will cost you about $29,000. For more information and photos, check out Jeremy Dixon's website.
