Jonathan Ward

With a passion for working on classics, Ward began to work on Toyota FJs and feeding the growing demand for the legendary off-roader. Along with his wife Jamie, he started TLC, a service center for FJ Land Cruisers. They grew the business into the largest provider of services and parts for the Land Cruiser community in the US.

ICON

After years in the FJ business, the Wards decided to begin their own custom-built/restored FJ shop. Noticing the demand among collectors, they ceased the opportunity and began building classic FJs. That is just how ICON came to be. In the years since then, ICON4x4 has added the classic first generation Bronco as well as the original Chevy pickup to their product lineup.

BR

Badged by ICON as the BR, this modern take on the original Bronco is as good as any other. Having personally had a private tour of the ICON manufacturing house in Los Angeles, I was blown away to see the amazing attention to design and detail in every aspect of the build. The truck you see before you looks true to its Bronco roots at a glance, but every mechanical component and every body panel has been carefully and specially built.

Modern Power

The BR is powered by a fuel-injected Alloy V8 capable of 426HP and 402 lb-ft of torque. Modern power certainly helps to keep up with the best cars on the road today. The transmission is a 5-speed manual, but an optional 4-speed automatic is available.

The Driving

It is safe to say that the ICON BR can hang with the best of them in the off-road department as well. After all, Jonathan Ward spent a lifetime perfecting off-roading FJs. The 12" travel Coil suspension with front and rear sway bars along with Fox Racing 2.5” Emulsion shocks and Eibach coils help navigate through rough terrain.

Interior

The interior colors and trims can be customized, of course. But the underlying design holds true to the original. The BR is equipped with standard modern luxury features such as USB port and navigation systems. Plenty of more premium options are available as well to customize depending on the buyers' needs.

Features

When placing an order, one can choose from a number of available interior and exterior options. You can also pick from the different body styles they offer. The BR can be ordered as a convertible with a soft top or even a pickup.

A New Approach

The design of the exterior has to be among the best we've seen of a restomod Bronco. A cool feature found on ICON's Broncos is the reflective coated architectural tinted glass. The overall look is very much authentic, but when taking a closer look at all the panels and parts, I noticed a superb cleanliness and a modern product design aesthetic in every little piece. The unmistakably high build quality only goes to enhance Jonathan Ward's intended visual for the BR.

Devil in the Details

It has to be the small details and third-read material that sets the ICON BR apart from the others in my eyes. The modern styling and industrial look of a BR, along with the uncompromising quality of ICON are consistent in every truck they build. However, rarely are two BRs exactly the same, since each one is custom-built to the customer's specifications. And every single one is hand-built by the guys at ICON in beautiful Los Angeles, California.
