1. The future F-150 will double as a worksite generator.

Ford has been very vocal about their efficiency-based investments in recent years. While the production of a fully electric F-150 appears to be the end goal of the initiative, they've promised a plug-in hybrid version of their best-seller to be available by 2020. While the hybrid announcement is a story for another day, one announced feature has us interested. On top of the expected features, Ford has said this hybrid version will be able to function as its own integrated generator, capable of powering a job site by itself. We've got to hand it to Ford in this case; they're continuing to find new and inventive ways of adding utility to an already wildly versatile product.

2. Trusting the F-Series with a limousine's job.

For the longest time, the pickup truck was seen as, well, the opposite of the sort of luxury represented by the limousine. That's not the case these days. With luxury trim selections for the F-Series continuing to expand (not to mention its cross-demographic success) it shouldn't be surprising things would eventually result in a crossover like this. Still, it says something about the F-Series' appeal if people want to hire one out and attend prom in one.

3. A helpful workbench extension.

With a little help, your F-150's tailgate can be the workbench of your dreams.

By installing a utility workbench extension on the truck's tailgate, you can give it the support it needs to effectively act as a new workstation. This comes especially handy if you're used to hauling materials from your truck to the bench.

4. Ridesharing benefits from F-Series luxury.

While an F-Series limousine admittedly comes off as a bit of a knowing gimmick, that's obviously not where the trucks stop with luxury. Some F-Series trucks boast a pristine level of comfort, making them ideal vehicles to be picked up in when using rideshare services like Uber. Someone in the position of driving one of the luxury models probably won't find themselves in a spot where working rideshare seems optimal, but you never know; the luxury element certainly wouldn't hurt for tips in any case.

5. Debris removal in a pinch.

Debris removal may not be so creative as a Ford job use, but it's worth it as a reminder if you're ever looking to make a spare buck. Almost everywhere there's a heap that needs heaving. Between the F-Series power and mobility, you'd be hard-pressed to find a companion better-suited to help you tend the task. And don't mind what the haters say; the new aluminum cabs are every bit as tough as you'd expect from Ford.

6. Plowing out the roads.

F-150s in the past have actually been dissuaded from be used as snow plows -- those with electric power steering, at least. This was due to the plow's hydraulics putting an excessive strain on the truck's electrical systems. Back in 2015 however, Ford filled in that gap with an F-150 Plow Prep package. If installed,  this would make the F-150 a champion of clearing out a job site on a day with heavy snowfall the night before. It's also worth mentioning that you'll become a quick favorite among neighbors if you bring this out to play when the weather calls for it.

7. A mover's best friend.

Of all the alternative job uses for a truck around, this one may be the go-to classic. So many of the instances one might hire out a moving truck can be sated just as well by a good old fashioned F-150-- and that's not to mention the bigger variants. It seems like there's always someone in a given social network in the midst of moving somewhere new. If you're looking for a way to pocket extra cash (or just a way to strut your truck's brawn) doubling your truck as a mover makes for a solid fix.
