Fine Example

To us, nothing says American classic quite like a late '70s Ford pickup. And if you want to get more specific, we envision the ultimate classic as something pretty close to this gorgeous '79 F-150 we spotted over at Streetside Classics. A well-optioned Ranger XLT model finished in a beautiful shade of metallic blue, it's hard to imagine a finer pickup in our humble opinion.

Hard to Beat

Plus, this Ford just so happens to be a regular cab, short bed, four-wheel-drive model, which is typically the most desirable. It's been fully redone by a previous owner and looks absolutely immaculate as well. With a nice mix of new and original parts, this is one combo that's hard to beat.

Shiny Stuff

As a Ranger model, there's plenty of extra brightwork on the outside, including rocker moldings and wheel well trim to go with all that extra badging and shiny chrome bumpers. The original Bright Dark Blue Metallic color shines bright with a fresh paint job, and there's even a toolbox in the back if you need some extra space.

Fresh and Clean

Pop the hood, and you'll find a 351 V8 with just 78,093 miles on the clock. To that solid base, the previous owner added a few welcome upgrades including a four-barrel carb, Summit radiator, and a whole assortment of chrome dress-up goodies that make it look even better.

Nice Mix

The interior mixes a bit of old and new as well, including a set of leather seats pulled from a 1996 F-Series pickup. There is quite a few nice original options present as well, including air conditioning, though a modern AM/FM/Bluetooth radio has been added so you can plug your phone in and jam out to some '70s classics.

Sitting Right

You won't have to worry about using your right arm for shifting, as the C6 automatic transmission takes care of that. Somewhere along the line, the suspension received a host of upgrades as well. The front axle is a Dana 44, while the rear axle is the legendary Ford 9" unit. James Duff provided the leveling coils, which help this Ford sit just right.

Perfect Combo

Throw in power steering and front disc brakes, and we're betting this old Ford drives just as nice as a much newer one. And personally, we think that the old school aluminum wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich tires is the perfect combination for any classic four-wheel-drive Ford truck.

Perfect Pairing

Without a doubt, classic American trucks don't get much better than this stunning '79 F-150. It's the perfect combination of options, body style, powerplant, and mechanicals, in our humble opinion. If there's a much better representation of what we've got to offer in the automotive world, well, we'll eventually find it!
