1. The leviathan

Hennessey has a knack for building gonzo vehicles that are just plain out of control for daily use. When they got their hands on a Raptor, you could really expect something insane based on the already modified performance pick up. What they actually did, besides the obvious power upgrades, is make the truck more convenient and practical for every day grocery getting. Dubbed the VelicoRaptor, this eight-seat SUV doesn't share any body parts from your run-of-the-mill model except the C-pillar forward.

2. Once you're inside

For the interior, everything is what you would expect to see if you are familiar with the standard Super Crew F-250 Super Duty, plus some. Additions include a middle row center chair that folds into a console, and folding 3rd-row bench seats, taking the big body Raptor to eight seats. There is an optional middle row 60/40 folding seat/center console which if utilized brings your chair count down by one.

3. From truck to SUV

In the past, the Hennessey VelociRaptor SUV had been based on the F-150 Raptor and  Ford Expidition, but this new model is different, based on the F-250 Super Duty truck. New parts on the VelociRaptor SUV include a completely reworked suspension, top level high-performance off-roading components and high strength steel bumpers. To aid in situations where you need to get out of a sticky situation or save someone else, there is a Warn winch at the front and a Class V receiver hitch at the back.

4. Even more power

For power in the gasoline model, you will have the option of using the 6.2-liter V8 with either 600 horsepower, or 650 by way of a supercharger update. With a standard Raptor SVT Ford gives you a nothing to sneeze at 6.2-liter putting out 411 horsepower, which is still respectable. If you'd like to spice things up, you have the option of the Power Stroke diesel, and then you can turn up the volume to 880 lb-ft of torque with Hennessey's power package, though you only get 440 horsepower.

5. Limited numbers and deep pockets

With this black paint job and larger size, the VelociRaptor looks more Mad Max Thunderdome than off-road SUV. With the addition of two doors and rear cargo doors, this creation will really turn heads for enthusiasts in the know at the pick up line of your your kid's school. Unfortunately, the base MSRP for one of these is a staggering $149,500 and they are limited to only 30 units per year. We're eagerly hoping to get our grubby paws on a model at some point so we'll have some fun in it. Until then, we'll have to make do with staring lustfully at it on our monitor.
