Big in Every Way

The concept of hot rod pickups is, of course, nothing new. But there's just something truly special about a low slung, big-tired, V8-powered classic Ford pickup like this '51 we came across recently at Mecum Auctions.

Old Fashioned Appeal

On the outside, this classic Ford truck certainly talks the talk. That Midnight Blue paint looks the business, and a 3" chopped top and 2" chopped hood give it plenty of old fashioned hot rod appeal.

Smoothed Out

The rest of the truck has been smoothed out nicely, with most of the chrome and badges now gone for good. A smooth tailgate and rear roll pan round out the more modern look.

Modern Comfort

As tough as the outside of this pickup looks, the inside offers little more than supple comfort. The two-tone tan leather interior certainly looks great, and we're betting that it's way comfier than the original vinyl bench seat.

Conveniences Galore

There are also loads of modern conveniences here, including power windows, navigation, a backup camera, touchscreen stereo, and a host of speakers for cranking up the tunes.

Blue Oval Pride

But what really sets this Ford truck apart from the rest of the pack is what lies under the hood - a 351 Windsor. That's right, the previous owner rightfully decided to stick with Blue Oval power instead of going rogue with some Chevy mill.

All Ford

The V8 sends power through a C4 automatic transmission back to a 3.83-geared 9-inch Ford rear end. Thus, this bad boy is all Ford. A 4-link rear suspension helps get the power to the ground, too.

Shiny Stuff

Thankfully, the previous owner left a little shine on the outside of this beauty, too. The grille, mirrors, hood trim, and American Racing wheels are all chrome, giving this pickup a nice contrast.

Up or Down

Another nice touch is this truck's adjustable coilover suspension in the front and the rear. So if you don't like the ride height, you can easily dial it into your personal preference.

Flawless Execution

Hot rod classic Ford trucks are nothing new, but this beautiful '51 seems to do everything just right. With Ford V8 power and perfect execution, we'd be proud to cruise this thing anywhere, anytime!
