Gateway Broncos Monterey-Favorite Brings Back Ranger Stripes
Restomod treatment stays true to the Bronco's classic character.
Throwback Flares
Officially licensed by Ford, Gateway Bronco tops the list for restomod trucks and innovative products. A regular at Monterey Car Week, Gateway unveiled the world's first, all-electric, vintage Bronco in 2021. This year, it was back to basics with a Coyote-powered first-gen that featured a proprietary hardtop with a retractable roof and throwback Ranger stripes on next-level carbon fiber wheel flares.

Notable Models
Presented in Wind Blue and dubbed the 'Coastal Classic,' the Luxe-GT Edition Bronco was a crowd favorite at Monterey. The ten-day-long Californian event has been described as the country’s most prestigious auto show, celebrating vehicles from the past, present, and even future models. The event includes the famous Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and notable, The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering in Carmel.
Original Options
While Gateway Bronco does offer full restorations, the LUXE-GT takes it one step further by blending retro vibes into a thoroughly-modern package. Seth Burgett, founder, and CEO of Gateway Bronco reflected on the build before Monterey. “The unique color palette was an opportunity to introduce some vibrant options while remaining true to the original character of the classic Ford Bronco.”
Vintage Aim
Burgett continued, pointing out a classic Bronco feature. “I look forward to introducing a re-imagined version of the original Ranger stripe.” Bringing out the best in first-gen Broncos is a goal that began around 2015, while on a father-daughter road trip. The experience led Burgett to launch Gateway Bronco with the aim of offering the highest quality vintage truck possible.
Upgraded Features
Along with the fresh styling direction, Gateway Bronco chose Monterey Car Week to launch their new patent-pending, 'Power Retractable Hard Top.' “It's a hard top, but at the push of a button it's a soft top,” Burgett stated. The open roof reveals a four-point roll bar, just one of the many upgraded safety features incorporated into a Gateway build.
Frame Authority
While Gateway Bronco did not provide many technical specs on Coastal Classic, it follows in step with other top-shelf builds. Gateway either retains the original frame or utilizes one from Kincer Chassis—the authority on Bronco foundations. The original bodies, sourced from “high desert regions in California, Arizona, and New Mexico,” are then painstakingly restored to like-new condition.
Upwards Output
Under its vintage facade of a white painted grille and sports emblems, Coastal Classic packs a thoroughly modern 5.0L Coyote engine. Introduced in 2011, Ford's powerhouse motor was first fitted to the Mustang and the F-150. Delivering 460 horsepower, Coastal Classic's Coyote has been coupled to a ROUSH Performance supercharger that pushes the output upwards of 750 horses.
Timeless Stripes
Attention to detail is reflected throughout the build. The seats are clad in genuine Porsche leather with houndstooth inserts, while the bed is finished with barn wood planks. “It's a timeless design that works well in this overall package,” Burgett stated. A favorite of the automotive elite at Monterey, this classic retro-rig has earned its stripes—Ranger or otherwise.
