Former Ranch Workhorse 1979 F-150 Gets New Lease on Life
Despite its many years of hard work, this classic Ford F-150 looks no worse for wear.
No Worse For Wear
While we come across plenty of nice, relatively untouched classic Ford trucks, the vast majority didn't enjoy that sort of pampered life. Most have been worked hard and left to rot. But this beautiful '79 F-150 we spotted at Classic Auto Mall held up quite well after its past life on a ranch. And today, it looks awfully good considering the many long hours of hard work it's put in over the years.

Stories to Tell
That isn't to say that there isn't some obvious wear going on here. There are some dents and dings, along with various other imperfections. But to us, those things just add character. They're just stories that this truck has to tell, and we're sitting here open-eared, ready to listen to them.

Weathered Exterior
This F-150 spent lots of time on a ranch in Wyoming, which isn't really a surprise for a '70s long bed, four-wheel-drive Ford. The red and white combo is original, though the seller believes that it was repainted at some point. Regardless, the sun and weather have taken its toll and left some patina here and there.

Clean Inside
The interior of the F-150 is pretty clean, however. The red bench seat was recovered at some point, but everything else is original save for an aftermarket radio. We would have expected to see some cracks in the dash at the very least, but that doesn't appear to be the case here.

Work Horse
Further adding to this truck's work horse reputation are the rubber floor mats and its manual transmission. The F-150 also retains its original white-painted steel wheels with center caps, along with some large exterior tow mirrors. Aside from some rot in the rear quarter panel rocker, there doesn't appear to be much rust, however.

Stop and Go
Under the hood, you'll find one of the world's greatest engines - Ford's 300 cubic-inch inline-six. The torque monster sits there unrestored, with a single 2-barrel Motorcraft carburetor on top of a Clifford intake manifold. Power disc brakes up front are a welcome option to slow this thing down, and a beefy Ford 9-inch resides out back to help get it going.

Minor Imperfections
While some might prefer their pickups to be a little more refined, we're loving the character this classic F-150 possesses. After all, this truck has lived quite the life and has plenty of bumps and bruises to show for it. But it's nice enough that we wouldn't want to mess with those imperfections, either.
