The truck of choice

Ford's F-Series trucks remain the dominant vehicle for American buyers time after time. Last year Ford's pick-up trucks accounted for more than a million units of the company's total sales. To put that into perspective, that is one F-Series truck sold every 29.3 seconds. The sales momentum has continued into 2019, with Ford again ahead of its rivals.

Ford's truck is federally approved - quite literally

As America's most popular vehicle, Ford's F-150 is a crucial element of how Americans move about and do business. You could say that it, quite literally, is a rather important gear in the U.S. economy. Even Mike Pence approves of the F-150's status as America's truck of choice, as can be seen by his thumbs-up attitude behind the wheel of one.

Ranger doing its bit

Ford sold 278,898 pick-up trucks in the first quarter of this year. That represents a 4% increase over 2018. Although the F-150 remains the volume king, Ford's smaller trucks have also contributed handsomely. The new Ranger, in its first quarter on sale, totaled an impressive 9421 units.

A pretty truck that works for living - too

Ford's F-150 sold 214,611 units by the end of Q1 this year. It accounts for the bulk of Ford truck sales. But why is the F-150 so popular? Simple: it combines the traditional F-Series workhorse values and capability, with modern comfort and convenience features. And it can haul big rigs and loads.

Sometimes, you need a six-tire truck

Ford's secret with F-Series is the sheer diversity of options it offers customers. For those who need a true heavy-duty working truck, there is the F-450 dually. Powered by an immensely powerful turbodiesel V8, it cranks out 935lb-ft, which is more than adequate for any load you wish to haul.

Massive towing ability

Ford's F-450 can haul really big rigs thanks to its enormous V8 diesel engine. The tow-rating classifies at a very impressive 34,000 lb. That is the kind of workhorse ability which means you very rarely need to do two journeys with an F-450 when the requirement is moving a heavy load from one place to another.

Back to basic options

Huge F-450s aside, Ford's F-Series truck portfolio also offers value orientated options. The most basic F-150 can be had without alloy wheels or shiny chrome styling details. Just some honest steel wheels and a black plastic grille. The kind of features which you don't mind scratching-up a bit in the work yard, on the ranch or traveling around a construction site.

America's favorite vehicle can be a sports-truck too

Heavy hauling F-450s, urban-friendly Rangers and an F-150 for every occasion. And then Ford also produces the high-performance truck with really no rival in sight. The F-150 Raptor is a dedicated fun truck, one which serves no other purpose than its status as a halo model which delivers peerless driving pleasure.

Trucks that gain from technology upgrades

With Ford's trucks accounting or more than half of all its vehicle sale in America, the bulk of Dearborn's engineering resources are allocated to F-Series. That means these vehicles are first among equals when Ford has new technology to deploy. Technology such as collision avoidance autonomous driving capability - because when you are hauling a rig, and something unexpected happens, you want all the help you can get.
