1. The 2017 LA Auto Show was a blast!

There was a great time to be had at the 2017 LA Auto Show late last year. As the most extensive automotive expo here on the west coast, we would have expected nothing less! As per usual, Ford was a major draw to the show. Between the focus on new features, 2018 truck models, and a notable display literally protruding a Ford GT out from the wall, there's been plenty to feel excited about as a Ford fan.

Although Ford truck aficionados would have had their year's fill at the NTEA expo earlier last year, the LA Auto Show provides an optimistic insight into Ford's broader future as a company. Everything from the latest F-150 to the new Mustang was on display. Best of all, we'll yet see the fruits of these projects throughout the course of 2018.

2. A year for SUVs and Crossovers.

The 2018 Ford Ecosport was the main contender for this year. Based on the Ford Fiesta, it capitalizes on the market's simultaneous tastes for the sporty-yet-domestic fare as well as environmentally efficient vehicles. As a matter of fact, Ford made SUVs a central part of their agenda. This may be in part due to the fact that gas prices across the United States have been lower lately. SUVs and Crossovers aren't quite as exciting as the latest big thing in truck or sports car technology, it's arguably a more telling indication of where the auto market currently stands.

3. You knew to expect something fresh from the F-150.

In keeping with Ford's ecologically-oriented focus and the F-150, the Ford Platinum Ecoboost was on fine display. The 2017 LA Auto Show also made the new stock model F-150 available for test drives. With its high suspension and fuel flexibility, the Ford Expedition was one of the expo's most eye-catching highlights.

4. A blast from the past... Old F-Series trucks!

Although an automotive expo is usually thought of as a vision of the future, there were some instances where Ford took us back to the past. Among them, a vintage Galpin Ford F-100 from the 1950s was showcased, complete with a special fiery paint job. Going even further back, there was a 1935 Galpin Ford shop truck in a lemon yellow paint.

5. There was some stiff competition.

While we may reserve our hearts for Ford, there was still a lot to be seen elsewhere. One of the notable non-Ford attractions was a Star Wars-themed Titan ATM6 concept truck from Nissan. Dressed to look like one of the AT-AT walkers from The Empire Strikes Back, it ended up being one of the most memorable sights of the expo.

6. What does Ford have in store for 2018?

The diesel option for the 2018 F-150 was pretty big news from where we're standing; although we're not at all surprised that the F-Series is moving in a fuel flex route, the fact that things are finally set in motion can only mean better things for the future. The 2017 LA Auto Show has definitely inspired a new sense of wonder in us in terms of what we can expect from this new year. Even if there was nothing groundbreaking in store for us this time, Ford has kept themselves on track with the times. As attentive followers of the company, what more could we ask for?
