Small Screen to Garage

Netflix hit gold when it debuted a TV show/comedy dubbed The Ranch a while back. Since then, the show has garnered countless fans who love actor Sam Elliott's character Beau Bennett. Bennett is a Vietnam veteran who's taken over his family ranch, and he fittingly tools around that property in a '71 Ford F-250. Now, that very same pickup is going up for grabs at Barrett-Jackson's Scottsdale auction, taking place January 11-19.

Main Character

Over the course of eight seasons, this Ford F-250 has played a prominent role in the TV smash hit. It also happens to be the actual vehicle driven by Elliott. It's featured in the show's opening sequence as well as second-unit driving shots through locations in Colorado. Which obviously makes it much more desirable than its backup truck that resides in Los Angeles at the studio.

Refreshed Mechanicals

While the exterior of the old Ford looks a little weathered, the TV show's crew did ensure that it was mechanically sound. The 360 V8 under the hood has been rebuilt, along with the carb. In addition, the truck has been fitted with new tires and shocks, as well as refreshed brakes to ensure that it can tool around without any problems. After all, in Hollywood, time is money.

Perfect Fit

And besides, nobody would believe the story if Bennett owned some sort of pristine, fully restored pickup. Ranchers don't care about such things, only using their trucks for vital tasks around their land. Thus, the goal here was to enlist a pickup with lots of patina and an authentic look that you'd expect to see at any ranch or farm around America. Needless to say, the crew nailed it.

Where It Counts

Thus, the exterior and interior of this Ford F-250 are both a little crusty, to say the least. But that only adds to its charm in our humble opinion. The important thing here is that this truck "runs like a champ," according to the auction listing. And we'd obviously leave it as-is, especially considering its claim to fame in a small screen role.

Potential Deal?

So if you're a fan of The Ranch and cool old Ford trucks in general, this F-250 presents an interesting opportunity. Personally, we're pretty curious to see what it ultimately sells for, especially since the truck is crossing the block with no reserve. Perhaps someone will get a great deal on a cool old truck, and have a great story to tell in the years to come?
