1. 2017 Diesel Power Challenge

If you're a fan of diesel trucks, you're gonna love the Diesel Power Challenge. The event, which just celebrated its 10th anniversary, pits diesel owners from across the globe against each other in a series of grueling tests. Those tortuous tests include a sled pull, 1/8th mile trailer tow, drag race, trailer tow obstacle course, fuel/consumption and driveability tests, and of course, a dyno showdown. Every brand of diesel truck is welcome, but this year's test featured an awful lot of Fords at the top of the heap.

2. The Dyno Showdown

On day three of the competition, the hand-picked competitors strapped their seriously powerful rides to a dyno at ATS Diesel Performance in Arvada, Colorado. And after all the (black) smoke cleared, the results were incredibly impressive, with four of the top five spots going to Ford's venerable Super Duty.

3. Charlie Keeter’s ’04 Ford F-250

Last year's DPC champion, Charlie Keeter, was back in his 2004 F-250. But while most expected him to land a podium finish once again, Keeter's Super Duty could only muster a fourth place finish. Still, his powerhouse pumped out 1,099.9 hp and 1,722.3 lb-ft of torque (2,822.2 combined). The fact that last year's winner slid to fourth this year just goes to show you how much stronger the competition has gotten in a short period of time.

4. Tim Jahn’s ’08 Ford F-250

Tim Jahn scored a second place finish in the DPC dyno competition with his incredibly cool 2008 F-250. His seriously modified 6.4-liter Power Stroke managed an incredible 1,315.7 horsepower and 1,999.4 lb-ft of torque (3,315.1 combined power). He actually bested the first place finisher by nearly 60 hp, but ultimately lost out with 132 less lb-ft.

5. Patrick Whitcomb’s ’08 F-450

Patrick Whitcomb showed up for the 2017 DPC competition in his 2008 F-450 dualie and rolled out with a third place finish in the dyno competition. His big ol' Ford rounded out the podium thanks to an impressive run that saw him lay down 1,147.5 horsepower and 1,860.3 lb-ft of torque (3,007.8 combined).
