Eight Cylinder Options Galore

The V8 engine isn't nearly as prevalent as it once was. Which is a real shame for those of us who love the sound, feel, and power delivery of eight-cylinder engines, which are known for smooth, linear power and flat torque curves. Luckily for Ford fans, the Blue Oval continues to offer an array of V8 engine options in certain models, which can't be said for many of its rivals.

Here is every single Ford V8 one can purchase in the 2026 model year, and which vehicles they can be optioned with. Let's explore them in order of displacement!

5.0L Coyote V8

First up, we have the venerable 5.0L Coyote V8, which has been around since the 2011 model year. Today, we're in the Coyote's fourth generation and it remains a popular choice for many. Luckily for them, the 5.0 is available in multiple F-150 trims, as well as a couple from the Mustang lineup.

2026 Ford F-150

In the F-150, the current 5.0L Coyote V8 produces 400 horsepower and 410 ft-lbs of peak torque across five different models --

  • XL - Standard engine on Regular Cab; $2,340 on the SuperCrew
  • STX - Optional, $5,875 (requires 200A package)
  • Lobo - Standard engine, but the STX Lobo Package costs $14,450 over a base STX
  • XLT - Optional, $2,340
  • Lariat - Optional, $120
  • Tremor - Optional, $120
  • King Rang - Not Available
  • Platinum - Not Available

2026 Ford Mustang

Over in the Mustang, 5.0s are set up more for peak power and higher RPMs, where we have two models and three available power levels --

  • GT & GT Premium - The base 5.0L makes 480 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque, but if you upgrade to the active valve exhaust, that number jumps up to 486 horsepower and 418 lb-ft of torque.
  • Dark Horse & Dark Horse Premium - The hottest naturally aspirated 5.0L V8 in Ford history, the Dark Horse variants make 500 horsepower and 418 lb-ft of torque

5.2L Predator V8

A larger version of the Coyote, this supercharged 5.2L Ford V8 debuted in the 760-horsepower 2020-2023 Mustang Shelby GT500 before getting a 700-horsepower truck revision for the F-150 Raptor R in 2023. For 2024, Ford improved airflow and bumped that figure up to the current 720 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque.

Ford utilizes another version of the supercharged 5.2L in the hand-built Mustang GTD supercar, where it has become the most powerful V8 in Ford history at 815 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque.

There's also a rumor that Ford will soon replace the GT500 with a new Cobra model using this engine. But that wouldn't be for 2026.

6.7L Power Stroke V8

For diesel fans, the turbocharged 6.7L Power Stroke V8 continues to prove popular in the Super Duty line of trucks, where it can be had in one of two guises - standard-output, churning out 475 horsepower and 1,050 pound-feet of torque, or the high-output version, which makes 500 horsepower and 1,200 pound-feet of torque.

  • F-250 XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum - optional, S.O ($10,995), H.O. ($13,495)
  • F-350 - XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum - optional, S.O ($10,995), H.O. ($13,495)
  • F-450 - XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum - S.O. is standard, while the H.O. is a $3,500 option

6.8L Minizilla V8

Ford's gas 6.8L V8 is a pretty new engine, having debuted as the new standard choice for the redesigned 2023 Super Duty. Based on the larger 7.3L Godzilla V8, this "Baby Godzilla" churns out 405 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque.

  • F-250 XL, XLT, Lariat - standard
  • F-350 XL, XLT, Lariat - standard

7.3L Godzilla V8

The 7.3L Godzilla V8

has been around for a few years now,

and has become incredibly popular due to the fact that it's an

marked Ford's triumphant return to old-school overhead valve pushrod V8s after running modular overhead cam gas engines in the company's heavy-duty lineup for a couple of decades. The new 7.3L offers plenty of capability baked in, thanks to its low-stress output of 430 horsepower and 485 pound-feet of torque. It doesn't get the same economy or offer as much torque as the diesel, but the Godzilla has many fans because of its reliability, easier maintenance schedule compared to diesel, and smooth power band.
