Donated Ford F-250 To Help With Horse Rescue Mission
This Super Duty will continue to do work but in a more charitable way.
Work Truck
It's no secret that Ford trucks have developed a strong reputation for being reliable and tough job site tools over the years. That's why we see them on duty in a variety of professions, whether that be as rescue vehicles, law enforcement rigs, construction haulers, or even helping out at a horse rescue mission, as is the case with this Ford Super Duty F-250 pickup that was recently donated to Sunrise Horse Rescue in Calistoga, California, according to The Weekly Calistogan.
Much-Needed Donation
The Sunrise Horse Rescue - a non-profit organization - has been around for 15 years now, but has never owned a vehicle to help tend to the many horses it has helped over that period. The owner of Sager Ford - Carl Sager - recently changed that by donating the 2010 Ford F-250 to the rescue, which should serve a variety of important duties on the ranch.
Many Purposes
The rescue has two horse trailers that the pickup will pull, shuttling horses to Napa Valley Equine or UC Davis when they are injured or sick, as well as traveling to check on horses located in nearby areas, delivering hay and supplies, and serving as an escape vehicle during fire season if the farm is in danger.
Million Miler
During a small ceremony when Sager handed over the keys to the rescue, he noted that the fully reconditioned truck - which is powered by Ford's 6.4-liter Power Stroke diesel - is a favorite among workers in the valley because of its toughness, capability, and reliability. "It'll go a million miles," he said.

Community Service
In addition to donating the truck, Sager Ford will also complete all of the maintenance on it for free. Carl took over the dealership - formerly known as Zumwalt Ford - late last year, determined to continue its relationship with the local community, but he also admittedly has a soft spot for horses, making this the perfect way to accomplish two goals at once.

Deserving Charity
Sager wants to continue to help the Sunrise Horse Rescue moving forward, a cause that he holds near and dear to his heart, but the next step may be providing them with a brand new Super Duty. "Sager Ford is new to town, and I'm sorry I couldn't get them a brand new one," he said. "But hopefully one day, because they deserve it."
