Dive Deep with the Bronco Everglades Off-Road Setup
The capable off-road machine boasts water fording abilities right out of the box.
Water Swagger
Seaworthy, is what reviewers are jokingly calling the Bronco Everglades. While a maritime crossing is probably not recommended, the top tier Everglades is proving to be a capable off-road machine, with water fording abilities right out of the box. More than just trail-swagger, its factory-fitted snorkel encourages deep dives in the wetlands-themed Bronco.
Standard Modifications
Revealed at the Chicago Auto Show in early 2022, the Bronco Everglades is bucking the current customization trend—in the best way possible. With the Everglades, consumers no longer have to sift through catalogs and seek online advice about two essential, but expensive and labor-intensive, off-road modifications. Instead, Ford made the Everglades' winch and snorkel standard from the factory.
Whopping Comparison
While the other Bronco models hold their own off-road, the Everglades offers a few critical upgrades. Transmission, transfer case, and axle vent tubes have all been raised, allowing for an impressive three feet of wading depth. By comparison, that is three inches more than any other Bronco and a whopping six and a half inches more than the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.
Reversible Conditions
The Bronco Everglades' water fording prowess is crowned by its neatly integrated intake. Ford's design manager Ryan Olsson elaborated on the device, “What really sets the Everglades' snorkel apart is the head and reversible intake. It completely changes the way a snorkel can look and function.” More than murky water, it also improves airflow in extreme driving conditions like heavy dust or snow
Patented Control
Ford's optional Sasquatch Package is standard on the Everglades. Adding to the Bronco's trail-ready appearance, the package includes 17'' Carbonized Gray-painted alloy wheels, with 35'' BSW Mud-Terrain tires. A touch of lift is provided by position-sensitive Bilstein shocks that control bottoming-out with their patented 'End Stop Control Valves.' High-clearance fender flares, and electronic-locking front and rear axles round out the functional package.
Protective Highlights
What really sets the Everglades apart from other Bronco models is the factory-installed winch. The heavy-duty modular front bumper by Ford Performance integrates a ZEON 10-S WARN winch rated at 10,000 pounds, complete with a hundred-foot synthetic line. Other highlights include a protective safari bar, rock rails and steel bash plates also found on the Black Diamond and Badlands models.
Popular Manual
The Everglades is fitted with the four-cylinder 2.3L EcoBoost engine that delivers 300 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. A ten-speed automatic transmission and advanced 4x4 system with a maximum 67.8:1 crawl ratio are also part of the mix. Some enthusiasts are surprised that the Everglades is not available with the seven-speed manual transmission that was added to the Sasquatch package by popular demand.
Dive Year
The rough and tough Everglades gets a soft, but functional interior. Heated bucket seats are wrapped in Black Onyx marine-grade vinyl, while rubberized flooring and a drain plug make cleaning the interior a breeze. Unfortunately, those looking to dive into an Everglades will have to wait until the 2023 model release. The swamp-inspired Bronco is sold out for this year.
