A Throwback to 2006
A prominent feature at the 2006 SEMA Show, this DG Motorsports 2005 Ford F-150 BOSS represents the legendary character of two all-time great Ford products. The Oceanside, California-based shop has given the Ford pickup truck the sporty muscle car characteristics of the 1970 Mustang BOSS 302.Photos: Truck Trend
DG Motorsports
No stranger to building noteworthy Ford trucks, the folks at DG Motorsports started this particular project out with a standard 2005 F-150 off the factory line. The goal was to transform this regular truck with a vintage muscle car look and feel. So the first order of business was adjusting the stance.>>Join the conversation about this BOSS F-150 right here in the Ford-Trucks forum.
Go-Fast Ford Truck
Not dissimilar from the philosophy behind the Lightning series of Ford trucks, the builder gave the F-150 a lowered ride height, capped off by 22-and 24-inch Kaotik Menis chrome wheels wearing Pirelli rubber. This not only gave the truck a faster look but also provided a massive improvement in handling.>>Join the conversation about this BOSS F-150 right here in the Ford-Trucks forum.
Visual Mods
With the stance properly adjusted, it was time for DG Motorsports designers to turn their attention to the bodywork. The team equipped the F-150 with their custom front bumper cover, side skirts, and a one-piece rear roll pan. Other visual modifications include a Classic Design Concepts shaker hood, a steel-mesh grille, a rear decklid spoiler, Leer tonneau cover, and Mustang-inspired taillight covers. The addition of BOSS stripes on the sides and down the center of the truck completes the look.>>Join the conversation about this BOSS F-150 right here in the Ford-Trucks forum.
Climbing Inside
Having finished the multi-layer pearl paintwork and finished the exterior upgrades, they turned their attention to the cabin. Here you will find upgrades in the form of a Sony head unit working in tandem with the Sony 10-inch subwoofers and Sonic Technologies I Beams system. Stitchcraft handled the upholstery of the seats, which features leather and red suede.>>Join the conversation about this BOSS F-150 right here in the Ford-Trucks forum.
Power Upgrade
With the body taken care of, it was time to give some attention to the power source. The plan was always to enhance the stock 5.4-liter engine's 300-horsepower output. And that enhancement came in the form of a Vortech centrifugal supercharger. The blown motor is capable of putting 300 horses down to the wheels with ease. And the side-exit Magnaflow exhaust helps onlookers hear the roar of the Ford V8.>>Join the conversation about this BOSS F-150 right here in the Ford-Trucks forum.
