Highboy rides again

The F-250 Highboy remains of the most loved classic schemes Ford trucks ever had in production. In the 1960s and 1970s, these raised body trucks gave F-250 drivers all the load-carrying ability and off-road clearance they could require. Although it has not been in production for a very long time, Long McArthur Ford in Salina, Kansas, has now revived the Highboy nameplate.

Lots of lighting over the cab

With any homage, the detailing has to be absolutely perfect to do it justice. To ensure this, the folks at Long McArthur Ford have added tastefully to the F-250 Super Duty's exterior key changes. These KC Daylighter spots sit atop a chromed KC 3 roll bar and give the 2020 Highboy a direct styling reference point, to that original F-250s.

A loadbed configured for work

The Highboy might look like a show truck, but all F-250 Super Duty customers know that their vehicles are primarily designed for work. To this end, Long McArthur Ford has ensured that the 2020 Highboy F-250's load bed has a tough spray-in bed liner, supplied by Toff. This rear view shows how clever the packaging of that K3 roll bar is, as it has very minimalist attachment points to the bed's sides.

Looks pretty - but a working truck underneath

For those Highboy customers planning to work their trucks really hard, there is tailgate load helper and step mechanism. With a 78.5 ft³ load box, you can always do the work in one journey, where most other trucks, would require two.

Big rubber for off-road traction

Long McArthur Ford installed a Rough Country two-inch lift kit, to give its F-250 Super Duty upgrade the appropriate stance. Rolling the truck along, are polished 18-inch Pro Comp wheels, which contrast perfectly the dominant red and white body color combination. Traction and ride quality is assured, by virtue of those 35-inch BF Goodrich T/A K02 tires.

Not as dramatic as the exterior - in here

The Long McArthur Highboy cabin has been left relatively stock. It has cloth seats like proper working trucks should have and plenty of comfort features. There are two 12-volt DC power outlets and connectivity is managed by Ford's excellent Sync infotainment system. If you need to charge a device, there is a high-power Smart charging USB-C port too.

Each Highboy has its own certificate

It is amazing how a few well-chosen detail upgrades, can transform Ford's F-250 Super Duty into a homage truck. Powered by the impressive 7.3-liter V8 engine and featuring a lockable rear axle, it is not shy of working duty in all terrain types. Best of all, each Highboy upgrade produced by Long McArthur Ford comes with a certificate of authenticity, which should appeal to those owners who are planning to keep their trucks in great condition and sell them later on. The upgrade package retails for $8,495 should you desire the retro outfit.
