Epic Journey

In recent years, we've seen a small handful of wildly-modified Ford trucks take on extreme conditions to reach parts of the globe few have or will ever see - such as remote parts of the northern hemisphere. However, the latest mission from the folks at Transglobal Car Expedition is a bit more ambitious than that, as a team is currently on a quest to drive their heavily modified Ford trucks built by Arctic Trucks North America from the South Pole to the North Pole.

Heck of a Road Trip

This journey, as one might imagine, isn't exactly for the faint of heart. The team started out in Northern Canada before proceeding to the North Pole, then crossing the Greenland Ice Cap, and hitting the water (by boat, of course) to travel across Europe, for starters.

Heading South

From there, the team of Ford trucks and navigators will travel a total of 8,000 miles through the Middle East and Africa, all before getting back on another water-going vessel to travel to the South Pole and complete this incredible road trip.

Versatile Environment

As one might imagine, completing a trip with this many variances in weather conditions, roads, and other types of terrain calls for a pretty versatile vehicle, too. These Arctic Trucks were originally designed to traverse deep snow, but they also need to be able to handle high heat and various other challenges.

Solid Choice

The TCE crew settled on a group of Ford trucks based on their inherent reliability, capability, and the fact that parts can be easily obtained if they're needed - no matter what part of the world they might be in at the moment. As such, Arctic Trucks provided a fleet of their Super Duty-based AT44 XDS models, along with some AT44 F-150s.

Few Mods

Though these trucks are equipped with an array of modifications such as 44-inch flotation tires and countless storage solutions, their platforms and powertrains remain largely stock, which is intentional and designed to help make them less prone to breakage.

On the Way

Thus far, the team of eight explorers is well on their way across Canada, though there is a long journey left to complete. Those interested in following along with this epic road trip can do so by heading over to TCE's website, where it is providing a live tracker that enables us to do precisely that.
