Back in 2015,  Bodie Stroud of  Bodie Stroud Industries came up with the idea to build a modern production vehicle with the classic looks of the 1956 Ford F-100. They would begin by taking a '56 Ford truck's body and giving it a completely fresh powertrain, drivetrain, frame, and interior.

X-100

Strout spoke about his passion for the project. "When most people think about classic trucks, what comes to mind is usually the 1956 F-100, it's one of the most timeless designs of all time," he remarked. "I thought, wouldn't it be cool if someone put that truck back into production, preserving the truck's basic look, but with modern suspension, a brand new Ford Racing motor and transmission, and the interior and gauges from a late-model F-150. Then we decided to just go ahead and build the X-100 as a limited run production vehicle."

Flawless Body Work

Kicking every build off right, the Los Angeles-based shop would make sure every donor body is completely rust-free. BSI's custom touches here include chopping the hood, extending the body out to meet the running boards, adding in a larger rear windshield, and rounding the door corners. At the back, the one-piece bed is tubbed and comes with a hidden fuel filler neck. A pair of 1948 Chevy taillights round out the body modifications.

Modern Cabin

Moving into the cabin, we find the dashboard has been given a modern update as well. The BSI X-100 comes with gauges from a 2008 King Ranch. A Vintage Air unit takes care of climate control, and the center console features an Alpine head unit that works in tandem with Rockford Fosgate speakers all around.

Coyote Power

BSI has offered two engine options with their X-100, both of which use the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 as the base. The lower-end option is a naturally aspirated motor capable of 412 horsepower. And the premium choice is a supercharged Coyote Aluminator V8, with 630 horsepower on tap. The mill is mated to a Ford 4R70W four-speed automatic with a tow/haul mode, sending the power back to a 9-inch Currie rear end.

Custom Suspension

Giving the X-100 a modern comfortable ride and driving feel is a custom-designed frame that houses an advanced suspension system. A four-link suspension is at work at the back and independent suspension at the front features EZ-Aline adjusters for customizing camber and caster on the go. The entire system is designed by BSI specifically for this application. The complete build was advertised with a starting price of $180,000 at the time.
