Fire Fighter

Ford trucks have been serving double duty as brush fire trucks for decades. These quick-response vehicles allow firefighters to arrive on the scene before anyone else, perhaps taking care of the situation before extensive damage can be done. But this amazing, low-mile '79 Ford F-350 we spotted over at Streetside Classics looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor, not a panic-filled scene.

Long Service

It isn't uncommon for old brush trucks to accumulate very few miles in their years of service. And that's certainly the case with this beauty, which has just 8,850 actual miles. It was used by the fire department in Startex, SC all the way until 2017 when it was purchased by someone else.

Fresh Paint

Clearly, the department took great care of their pickup all those years. The second owner did opt to fix it up, however, with a fresh coat of paint and spray-in bed liner. Now, the Ford looks like it's ready to serve for many more decades to come.

Sturdy and Original

The original 351 cubic-inch V8 still resides under the hood, and remains untouched from its original form, save for a new carb. The engine is backed up by a three-speed automatic transmission. This particular pickup is also four-wheel-drive, so it's fully capable of going wherever you need it to.

Little Luxuries

Inside, you'll find black seats, carpet, and other matching highlights that perfectly compliment the carryover red hue. Like most Ford trucks of this vintage, there isn't really anything fancy to note in the cabin. But this truck does have factory power steering and power front disc brakes, which are nice little luxuries.

Lovingly Cared For

This time capsule pickup is being sold with the original warranty card, owner's manual, and maintenance records, which are nice touches. But we already knew that it's been lovingly cared for over the years. Heck, all you have to do is look at it and you'll know that.

Rare Find

If you're looking for a low-mile classic Ford truck, these brush trucks are always a great way to go. But there obviously isn't a ton of them floating around. All of those qualities make this particular '79 that much more special, and we love it for those reasons and more.
