Reason to Smile

It's safe to assume that pretty much all of us have been affected by cancer in some way, and many have experienced this terrible disease in a far too personal manner. Of course, cancer is a horrible thing no matter who it affects, but it goes without saying that younger folks should never have to go through it. Sadly, there are far too many who do, and that includes Bronco fan and teenager Samantha Corey of American Fork, Utah, who recently suffered a setback after being diagnosed with a terminal form of cancer. However, a group of Bronco owners in the area gave her a very good reason to smile, according to KSLTV.

Birth of an Idea

The whole thing started when Bronco owner Sean Henderson caught wind of Corey's story, at which point he had an idea - why not gather up his fellow Bronco owners - who routinely hang out at various off-road trails in the area - and cruise by the teen's house, given the fact that she loves Broncos so much?

Assembling the Masses

Henderson reached out to everyone he could think of, but he wasn't sure how many could make it for this impromptu parade of sorts. "We didn’t know if five were going to show up or a hundred were going to show up. We had no idea," he said. "I can’t even imagine going through it, so obviously everybody’s hearts go out to the family and this girl."

Diverse Crowd

Ultimately, around 50 Bronco owners heeded the call, making this a truly memorable event for Corey - as well as the entire group. The SUVs that rolled past her house - horns honking and engines revving - ranged in age from first-gens to the current sixth-gen, with a Bronco Raptor thrown in for good measure.

Special Moment

Needless to say, Corey was thrilled, and for just a minute, as her mom noted, this parade of Broncos helped her forget about her dire situation. "When we came out, I saw two Broncos and I was like, did you see that?” Corey said. “I don’t know how to explain it. They are just my special car. Every time I see one, I get excited. I feel like I am in Disneyland again and I love Disneyland."

Tough Situation

"This week was a rough week. She relapsed,” said Kimberly Corey, Samantha’s mother. “When it relapsed in May, they said they hoped to be able to give her a year. “So, she is a senior, so our goal is to maybe get her to graduate.” Regardless, Corey's mom also noted that it's been a long time since she's seen her this happy.

Act of Kindness

Regardless of what the future holds, it's pretty clear that this simple act of kindness touched everyone involved on this particular day, with Henderson noting that making "her smile from ear to ear was awesome." As for Corey, well, she's clearly grateful for those that showed up as well. “I can’t believe that just happened,” she said. “I am so happy right now. (And) I don’t even know half of them and they went away and they gave up their Saturday morning to come drive in their car and say hi.”
