Car Show Relic

As most of you know, the '80s were a unique decade. One filled with decadence, excess, and most importantly, over-the-top show vehicles. And while most of those trophy trucks are now either extinct or reverted back to a more normal form, this insane 1977 F-150 that we came across at Gateway Classic Cars recently lives on.

Award Winner

According to the seller, this F-150 was originally built in the early '80s and featured with the International Show Car Association from 1983-1985. Over that short time frame, it racked up a ton of awards, including 27 best-in-shows and the People’s Choice Award at the Car Craft Nationals in Pomona, CA.

Stance is Everything

It's pretty easy to see why, too. This cool old custom sport truck is just about everything that exemplified the custom truck scene back in those times. Starting with a massive lift and some pretty beefy rolling stock that gives this F-150 a rather intimidating stance.

Indoor Living

Not to mention more chrome than you can shake a stick at. But perhaps the most impressive thing about the exterior is how great it looks after all these years. Credit that to a life spent indoors, even when it wasn't on the show circuit.

Ready to Move

That doesn't mean that this F-150 can't get up and go, of course. The rear end is packed with 4.11 gears, which helps move those giant 40" tires with no problem.

Too Fly

The interior of this wild truck carries as much showmanship as the exterior, of course. Swiveling captain's chairs are the highlight. But there are more gauges and switches here than your average modern airplane.

Jam Packed

There are so many components packed into the interior that it's hard to even see them all. Heck, the most conventional piece we can find is a B&M shifter, which is attached to a C6 automatic transmission.

Home Stereo System

Of course, this custom F-150 packs a pretty massive stereo system. But we don't mean that in terms of watts. Rather, it has audio components so big you'd expect to see them sitting in somebody's home entertainment center. There's also a built-in dry bar and cooler in case you get thirsty.

Show and Go

You can't build a proper '80s show truck without an outrageous engine under the hood. Thus, this F-150 uses a 6-71 BDS blown 351 for motivation. But this massive mill looks every bit as good as it goes, we'd say, with miles of chrome plating covering everything.

More is More

Add it all together, and you've got what might just be the quintessential '80s show truck. And we're just happy that this relic from the past has survived all these years, completely intact. If nothing else, it's a nice reminder that there was a time when more was more, not less!
