Light on the Dark Side

We’ve all seen the commercials —pickups you normally find in golf course parking lots cruising through the desert with a huge dust plume in their wake —as if they’d ever leave the pavement. Those large plumes look great in ads, but once you actually get those trucks out there, they tend to prefer to stay off the dunes. Not this reimagined 1995 Ford F-150 Pre-Runner. True off-road enthusiasts will love the way this dune dragon kicks up the sand.

Gunnin' For the Sun

Forget about the bugs and strap on a helmet —you won't need a windshield where this sand serpent is headed. Thanks to an oversized custom suspension, oversized tires and a fully coordinated cab-to-bed roll cage, this truck is ready for maximum speed in the brutal desert sun. It even features a lift-off fiberglass hood for unfettered access to its overhauled powerplant.

Dune Hopping

Three high-backed Beard-brand off-road-centric suspension style seats and racing style safety belts highlight the truck's rough-and-tumble interior. An aftermarket GPS unit keeps you connected to the mothership while well-maintained plush carpets and original door panels compliment the truck's comfortable albeit slight Spartan look.

Sand Churning

You know what they say, the more understated the comfort, the powerful the engine. This '95 Ford F-150 Pre-Runner boasts a newly rebuilt 460 cubic-inch Ford V8 engine capable of nearly 400-horsepower. The power plant also features an Edelbrock-brand four-barrel carburetor and a C6 automatic transmission. And thanks to a 32-gallon fuel tank specially geared toward vast racing distances, you'll adventure for half a day before having to worry about a fill-up.

Beast Mode

It's not just the racing add-ons, but the power and rumble from underneath the hood that draws crowds and off-road hobbyists to this rig. Much of the truck's off-road performance features are controlled via new dash-mounted switch panels, included an Artcar-brand gated shifter. The truck also has dual electric cooling fans attached to its large radiator keep the truck's internal temperature cool during lengthy desert runs.

Frame the Checkered Flag

This Baja beast has only tallied about 500-miles on its newly rebuilt engine, meaning that it's best days of dune hopping are ahead of it. The truck's matte red and black paint job gives it an illusion of toughness that it delivers on, whether you're taking it to your favorite canyon overlook or camping spot. That's why hobbyists and off-road pros alike get excited when a truck-like becomes available packing the authentic snarl and style no TV commercial can quite capture.
