Awesome FTE Member Owned 1973-79 "Dentside" Trucks (photos)
Among Ford truck enthusiasts the 1973-79 F-series trucks are known as "dentside" trucks and one look at one will tell you why. You folks have some of the sweetest dentsides on the planet, and here's proof.
1. Dixietruck73's 1973 F-250
Just look at Dixietruck73's gorgeous '73 F-250. What more can you say about something that's basically perfect? From the gleaming silver paint to the stance, you just won't find a bone to pick with this one. The old 4x4 has been treated to just a 4" lift, but that fits the 38" Super Swampers fine. This charming 3/4 ton truck has a rather menacing look, but we sure wouldn't be afraid to drive it anywhere.
2. Colorado Ron's 1977 F-250
Colorado Ron set out to build the ultimate work truck, and we think he succeeded. The '77 F-250 has a built 351 V8, NP435 manual transmission, and 205T transfer case for durability. The small block has been treated to an Edelbrock carb, RV cam, full length headers, and various other goodies to help it make more power. The crew cab also sports a Warn winch and bumper, onboard air, tool box, and an in-bed fuel tank to tackle any sort of job site needs.
3. El Camino Man's 1973 F-350
The '73 F-350 you see here was originally owned by pat67shorty, but he later sold it to fellow forum member El Camino Man. The gorgeous green heavy duty truck is an original Super Camper Special with all the goodies. It runs via a rebuilt 390 cubic engine V8 with an Edelbrock intake, Summit carb, headers, and dual exhaust. The C6 automatic tranny was also rebuilt and uses a towing shift kit. All of which means that this stunning old truck isn't just a looker - it's ready to work as well.
4. kindorotten's 1973 F-250
We just can't stop staring at kindorotten's '73 F-250, and we doubt you will either. The brown beauty didn't always look this good, of course, as a ton of work has gone into making it one of the prettier dentsides we've ever seen. Nicknamed "The Beast II," the four wheeler has a nasty 428 cubic inch Police Interceptor spec motor under the hood. It's enough to undoubtedly spin those 8" wide steel wheels with old school Coker tires all day long, if you want.
5. jssec's 1978 F-350 Camper Special
Because we like Camper Specials, here's jssec's red beauty. This '79 retains much of its original charm, thankfully, with those steel wheels. It's also equipped with a 460 big block and C6 automatic transmission for easy towing, and air conditioning to keep the family cool during long camping trips.
6. skeeter1971's 1978 F-350 Dually
It isn't often you see a 70's dually, but skeeter1971's '78 F-350 is a real looker. The truck consists of a 3/4 ton cab sitting on a 1 ton frame, and it has a bored over 460/C6 combo for motivation. The rear end came out of an ambulance, so it's safe to say it's pretty heavy duty. The fenders came from an 80's model, and the interior is out of a 1979 pace truck special edition. The result of all those various parts? One cool and unique ride.
7. Justin.Hoeben's 1978 Prerunner
As further proof that our members have some pretty unique rides, we present to you Justin.Hoeben's '78 "Prerunner." The South African native bought the truck after it sat in storage for 6 years and proceeded to completely disassemble it, repaint it, and rebuild it in his own garage. The truck still has its original straight 6, but the rest of the look is straight from the deserts in Baja.
