A Closer Look at the 2021 Ford Ranger Tremor Package
One option makes a big difference in performance!

The Ranger has been a popular seller for Ford, but the standard versions were in need of upgrades for serious off-road driving. Now, with the optional Tremor package, this issue has been solved.

Tremor Emblem
The Tremor package raises the ground clearance to a healthy 9.7 inches. Underneath are skid plates for extra protection. Fox shocks all around provide a fantastic ride, and soaks up the nastiest impacts. Large 32-inch all terrain tires provide grip, a locking differential even more.

Side Steps
Also included are these side steps. They are great if you use them, not so great if you don't. Stepping around them can scrape the skin off your legs, so be careful. Or just take them off.

Tires
The Continental Grabber 265/70R-17 all terrain tires offer excellent grip in the dirt, so most of our off-road adventures were done in the two-wheel drive mode.

Engine
Under the hood of all Rangers is the EcoBoost four-banger, rated at 270 horsepower, with a torque listing of 310. It is hooked to a 10-speed transmission. Fuel economy is claimed to be 20/24 on the common 4x4 Ranger, but with the raised suspension of a Tremor, we are pushing more air. This drops claimed mileage to 19/19 overall.

Economy
Even with the low 19 mpg rating, we managed 23.8 at 70 mph highway cruising. The fuel tank is 18 gallons.

Drive Mode
Choosing the 4x4 system is done by a simple knob. The TM marking stands for Terrain Management. This provides Normal, Sand, Mud and Snow modes of operation.

Brake
Instead of the dreaded electronic emergency brake, we are glad to see a proper manual design instead. This is what belongs on a truck!

Headlights
The headlights put out plenty of light, and the raised suspension allows the beam to travel even further.

POV
With a combination of engine power, ground clearance, and beefed suspension, this Tremor equipped Ranger performs fantastic on rugged dirt trails. The ride is very comfortable too, on or off the road. This is a superb package, and worth every penny.

Price Sheet
The Tremor option is a bargain at $4,290. But in order to get it, you have to order the Lariat option at $2,000 more which is not a bargain. Add to this some other goodies, and the tab starts to reach the $50K mark. Wow!

Vehicle Rear
Overall, the Ranger Tremor is an excellent rig. Anyone planning to do serious off-roading will be glad to have it.
