1. Tires

Your factory stock tires will get the job done when it's about hauling loads to and from work sites. But, when it comes to the offroad world, it's a whole new territory. It's wise then to opt for some 'all-terrain' tires that will be ready to tough up the worst roads and obstacles.

2. Lift Kit

A standard suspension gives you plenty of clearance around town. But, the off-road world brings on many different challenges and all sorts of obstacles along your route. A lift kit is a popular suspension upgrade that will essentially raise the overall height of the vehicle providing ample ground clearance. Usually paired up with sport dampers and springs, they double as a performance upgrade to make those bumpy transitions that much smoother.

3. Winch Kit

Friends don't let friends go off-roading without a winch kit. This is a contraption that's used to haul or rescue vehicles and other large items from a tough spot such as a muddy bank or ditch. Normally affixed to the front of the vehicle, this is a key tool to have on board when going on some serious off-roading adventures.

4. Snorkel

When you think of "off-roading," it really means "off the road" and more on the beaten path. Often, this path contains different bodies of water which create unseen pits and swamps that you may happen to muddy your tires through. A snorkel kit provides the much-needed security to your air filter and engine. It essentially relocates the air filter to the outside of your vehicle so that the inner air filter doesn't get clogged with dirt and dust from your off-roading adventure. Furthermore, when rummaging through the muddy waters, you can prevent "hydro-lock" to your motor by keeping the water from being sucked in through the air filter inlet.

5. Bull Bars

While entering rough terrain, you can bet the front of your truck will be subject to some harsh abuse. The solution is a bull bar. Often, the aftermarket options are available to fully replace your bumper. Many of these bull bars provide the capability of installing a winch with ease.

6. Mud flaps

When you're off-roading, you're expecting a decent amount of mud and dirt. The mud flaps can help keep the dirt off the rear tail gate and fenders and ensure the clearance is not compromised by packed mud. Plus, don't you want to keep that truck all clean and pretty? Just kidding. It's meant to get dirty, but the mud flaps help in keeping excess off the vehicle where it counts.

7. Light bar

No off-road experience is complete without a daring drive through unfamiliar roads at night. This brings on new challenges that could otherwise be problematic. However, light bars are the solution to the darkest of roads. They provide bright lighting overhead giving the driver ample viewing for safety of himself and other vehicles. Often, light bars are comprised of multiple high intensity LED's for better viewing.

8. Floor mats

Let's face it, off-roading is going to be a dirty experience. Getting in and out of the truck will track a lot of mud, dirt and grime. Heavy duty, rubber floor mats will keep most of the dirt at bay and give you the option of easier cleaning when your trip is over. A worth investment for the seasoned off-roader.
