7 Recent Awards that F-Series Trucks Have Won
Ford's F-Series isn't just the best selling vehicle in America - it's also a real winner. Let's take a look at some of the many awards this popular truck has gotten recently.
1. 2017 Vincentric Best Fleet Value in America Awards
A grand total of seven Ford products were awarded the 2017 Vincentric Best Fleet Value in America Awards, which recognize the fleet vehicles that represent the lowest total cost of ownership. The F-150 XL and F-250 XL joined the Taurus SE, Transit Connect XLT, Transit 150 XL low-roof van, Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, and Lincoln MKX Premiere on the list. Vincentric analyzes costs across six key areas - maintenance, depreciation, fuel costs, insurance, financing, opportunity costs, repairs, fees, and taxes when making their determinations. Knowing this, is it any wonder so many businesses choose Ford?
2. AAA Green Car Guide Top Vehicle Award
The 2017 F-150 took home a Top Green Vehicle Award in the pickup category from the AAA Green Car Guide. The truck, when equipped with the 2.7 liter Ecoboost V6 and two wheel drive, achieves 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg (EPA rated at 26 mpg) on the highway, a number that is the best in class, and better than some smaller trucks. Ford was also praised for its fuel efficiency innovations, including lighter weight aluminum body components, an industry first 10-speed automatic transmission, and auto stop/start technology.
3. 2017 Popular Mechanics Automotive Excellence Awards Truck of the Year
Popular Mechanics named the all-new Ford F-150 Raptor as its 2017 "Pickup Truck of the Year." PM said that the Raptor simply "transcends the competition." “We have only nine categories covering the entire car market, so by design, winning isn’t easy,” said Ezra Dyer, Popular Mechanics automotive editor. “The Raptor is to a standard F-150 what the Incredible Hulk is to Bruce Banner. You can do 60 mph across terrain that would have most trucks smashing their oil pans at 30.”
4. 2017 Kelley Blue Book Brand Image Award
For the fourth consecutive year, Kelly Blue Book honored the Ford F-Series with a Brand Image award for best overall truck brand. The F-Series has won the award 8 out of 9 years that KBB has handed them out. The awards are decided based on actual consumer data. The F-Series was lauded for its many desirable attributes, including towing and payload capacity, technology, functionality, and available luxury amenities.
5. The Fast Lane Truck Gold Hitch Award and Truck of the Year
The 2017 Ford F-150 won The Fast Lane Truck's Truck of the Year award, as well as a Gold Hitch award for beating all other brands tested in the "world's toughest towing contest." "The 2017 Ford F-150 is the best towing half-ton truck this year,” said Andre Smirnov, editor of TFLtruck.com. “The overall versatility, towing performance, and choice of available powertrains and technology features of the entire 2017 F-150 lineup elevated the F-150 above all others.” The Raptor also took home a Gold Hitch award for best off-road truck.
6. American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) Greener Choice award
The 2017 F-150 was the only full size truck to win a Greener Choice award from the ACEEE in 2017. A two wheel drive model equipped with the 2.7 liter Ecoboost V6 finished with a Green Score of 39, good enough to place 12th overall. The ranking is a result of the F-150's best in class fuel economy of 19 mpg city and 26 mph highway, as well as the fact that it meets LEV-III ULEV70/Tier 2 Bin 4 on unleaded gasoline.
7. 2017 Autotrader “Must Test Drive” Award
As if you needed another excuse to go test drive a new Raptor, Autotrader has named the off-road pickup a "Must Test Drive" for 2017. Autotrader singles out 12 vehicles each year that it deems worthy of a hands-on experience. “For all the awards and accolades owners and the media have bestowed upon the all-new F-150 Raptor, the only way to truly understand how incredible this truck has become is to get to a Ford dealer and get behind the wheel,” said Todd Eckert, Ford truck group marketing manager. After driving one, we must concur.
