7 Ford Trucks at the Drag Strip

There is something satisfying about seeing a big, hard working Ford truck embarrass sleeker cars at the drag strip. Here's 7 trucks that have been optimized to carry speed through the traps, not payload to a job site.

1. Super Duty Diesel Beast

Watching such a big boxy truck hustle down the quarter mile will put a smile on the face of young and old Ford fans alike. This Super Duty beast by Maryland Performance Diesel is called King Kong because of how big it is, and all that weight and 4 wheel drive helps it put the power down for a 10.55 second 1/4 mile. Watch King Kong on Maryland International Raceway HERE.

2. Pro Farm Truck

The Chevy based "Farm Truck" has made a name for itself with its perfect sleeper look and killer drag race times, which ushered in the new trend of "Pro Farm Truck". Bruce Falkner's F100 wouldn't make you look twice if it was parked at a farm and feed store, but get it to the drag strip and it is so fast you realize that is a functional roll cage. Want to see it run? Check out this sub-11 second run on YouTube.

3. Big Block Bronco

Perhaps one of oddest Ford trucks that you may find on a drag strip is this 1968 Bronco. The tiny truck, and ultra short wheelbase means controlling the massive power from the 460 Ford motor is not going to be easy. How fast is it at the strip? Jeff Jensen isn't telling, but he did share a lot more of the details with Truck Trend.

4. Ranger vs Tesla

You will be extremely pleased to watch a cheap and cheerful Ford Ranger beat a Tesla Model S. The little Ford truck has always been an affordable way to more cargo, but this one was made to move out, even when racing a car with a feature called insane mode. Hi-Hoe silver! Check out this lone Ranger blow the doors off a Tesla HERE.

5. Drag Strip Wheelie 150

Remember how much fun it was when you figured out how to pop a wheelie on your BMX bike? Seeing a Ford truck pop a wheelie on the drag strip is absolutely mind blowing and just as much fun. This truck was built to destroy drag strips, just look at its tires, its stance, and how it carries the front wheels. Must we say more? How about Rob Parsons managed to stand this truck on its back bumper on the way to running an 8.5 second 1/4 mile at Hot Rod Drag Week.

6. Big Black Blown F100

As if a 1963 Ford F100 with a blown, dual quad equipped 488ci big block weren't strange enough, this one is right hand drive and lives in Australia. There are no hard numbers, or if their are the neither the builder nor the owner are sharing, but you can read details on the truck and look at more pictures at the down under version of Street Machine.

7. Stock Ford Truck Testing

Both of these trucks are completely stock, and they feature no aftermarket modifications. This was just a test day for PickupTrucks.com and Diesel Power Magazine to test the 6.7-Liter Power Stroke engine against the other heavy duty diesels. You wouldn't think piloting such big heavy trucks down the 1/4 mile could be fun, especially after the first time, but you'd be wrong. These big trucks and their massive torque can be a blast, even when you can't get to triple digit speeds by the finish line. Check out more information about this race HERE.
