7 Fast Cars The 2017 Raptor Blows Away

The 2017 Ford Raptor is pretty darn fast. Fast enough to outrun these seven high performance cars, past and present.

1. 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia

Alfa Romeo's latest four-door performance sedan, once again available in the United States, has been quite a hit with the critics so far. The Giulia bases out with a turbocharger and intercooler inline four-cylinder with direct injection, backed up by an 8-speed automatic transmission with manual mode. The powerplant pumps out 280 hp and 306 lb-ft of torque, good enough to propel the car from 0-60 in 5.1 seconds and complete the quarter mile in around 13.8. It isn't good enough, however, to best the new Raptor's 5.0-second 0-60 time or 13.7-second quarter mile.

2. 2017 BMW 330i

BMW is built on the premise of performance, and the 3-Series has long been recognized as the world's quintessential sports coupe. The latest version of the 330i, like many performance cars these days, uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine as motivation. The four banger produces 248 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, which it sends through an 8-speed manual transmission. But despite its hefty reputation, the Bimmer can only muster a 0-60 time of 5.4 seconds and it takes 14 seconds flat to finish the quarter mile.

3. 2000 Chevy Camaro Z/28 SS

The Camaro SS had a reputation as being one of the fastest cars you could buy at any price back in the early 2000s. But these days, you better spend the extra dough on some mods if you don't want to get embarrassed by a new Raptor. Early SS's took as long as 5.4 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour, and even the 2002 35th anniversary edition logged a 5.1-second 0-60 time.

4. 1993 Chevy Corvette ZR1

The 90's weren't exactly a great time for the Corvette, but the ZR1 represented the pinnacle of sports cars in its day. Plus, it had a 405 hp, 5.7-liter V8 that pushed the fiberglass wonder to 60 miles per hour in 5.1 seconds. But even the mighty ZR1 falls to the new Raptor in today's matchup. Pretty amazing to think just how far we've come over the years.

5. 1997 Ferrari F355 Spider

Even if it is 20 years old, the fact that the Raptor can beat any Ferrari is freakin' impressive. But the 375 hp F355 Spyder and its 5.2 second 0-60 time is simply no match for the new four-wheel drive beast. So the next time you wind up next to some rich guy sitting in one at the stop light, go ahead and rev up that Ecoboost.

6. 1995 Mustang Cobra R

In the 90's, a Cobra badge meant that you were getting the ultimate Mustang. And the race ready Cobra R took things a step further by upping the cooling capacity and removing unnecessary things like air conditioning, the back seat, and the radio in the interest of going faster. But with a 0-60 time of 5.4-seconds, you can breeze right by one with the A/C and radio on blast in your new Raptor.

7. 1982 Lamborghini Countach LP500S

Anybody who grew up in the 70's and 80's likely had a Lamborghini Countach poster on their wall. But today, what was once everyone's dream car will get outrun by a purpose built, off road truck. The Lambo ran a 5.6-second 0-60 in 1982, but older models were even slower. Even the later 1986 LP5000 QV, with its 5.1-second 0-60 time, can't outrun the Raptor.
