6 Vintage Pickups From Barrett-Jackson's Northeast Sale
Auction company Barrett-Jackson was a bit hesitant about bringing its car auction program to the northeast a few years ago. But after three years of unbelievable attendance success, the group is very much looking forward to its 2019 iteration come next month. The following are six of the more highlight-worthy trucks to cross the northeast auction block over the last few years.
1. Northeast 2016 | 1940 FORD HALF-TON PICKUP
This gorgeous looking, custom-built 1940 Ford Half-Ton pickup features fire engine red exterior complete with black bottom. The truck’s original flat-head v8 engine was completely reworked as was its original 3-speed, floor-shift transmission. In fact, nearly 95% of the truck is original – the only modification it has seen is a conversion from 6-volt to 12-volt and the addition of a hidden sound system. This vintage pickup truck was taken off the lot for $38,500.

2. Northeast 2016 | 1953 FORD F-100 CUSTOM PICKUP
While this truck might be closing in on its 70th birthday, it still runs as good as it looks. The frame and underside were completely restored. Its engine is a well-built 351 Windsor coupled to a C6 automatic transmission. The truck is painted in Raspberry Maroon metallic paint job, giving it the nickname of the "Raspberry Dream”. It runs and drives like a new truck thanks to some key additions, including power steering and power disc brakes, among others. Worth noting is that its bed was redone with a new wood finish, complete with a custom color-keyed tonneau cover. This truck sold for $31,900 at the 2016 Northeast show.

3. Northeast 2017 | 1926 FORD CUSTOM TRUCK
There was a TON of vintage vehicles at the 2017 Northeast show, as best evidenced by this gem here – a 1926 Ford truck. Sold at the show for $7,150, the new owners received a Doodlebug that was fully restored and outfitted with a 4-cylinder flathead engine controlled by a 3-speed manual transmission. Nothing more, and clearly, nothing less.

4. Northeast 2017 | 1967 FORD F-100 CUSTOM PICKUP
This nicely remodeled 1967 Ford F100 sold at the 2017 show for $9,350. It features a cab that is now 3” wider and a much heavier frame too. In terms of original parts, the truck still has the grill, trim, interior cabin components, and engine parts that it rolled off the factory line some 52 years ago. A big-block 352ci V8 engine drives this vintage vehicle, and a 3-speed automatic transmission controls it. Per the engine, it is worth pointing out that 1967 was the one and only year that the F100 featured that specific engine type. And it’s still running great.

5. Northeast 2018 | 1977 FORD RANCHERO GT PICKUP
The Ford Ranchero is a pickup that’s definitely worth a second look. Sold for an incredible $7,700, this truck, if you will, features the model’s original white and green paint job complemented by GT decals. The car / truck / pickup has close to 90K miles on it courtesy of the 400ci V8 engine powering it. This Ranchero isn’t built for just looks – it has some carrying capacity too. The vehicle’s bed is 6.5-foot-long and is capable of carrying 1,250-pounds thanks to its heavy-duty link coil rear suspension. Other worthwhile components include Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission, Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor, all solid-state ignition with a heavy-duty electrical system, and more.

6. Northeast 2018 | 1932 FORD CUSTOM PICKUP
Boy, does this truck have some stories to tell! Closing in on 90 years old, this 1932 Ford pickup hot rod was – believe it or not – the very first truck to compete in the Wildwood, NJ-based “Race of Gentlemen” in 2014. It features a 1940 Flathead V8 engine with a 1932 3-speed manual transmission. Because some obvious safety modifications were put into place across the industry after this car was built, a necessary modification that was made was the installation of a gas tank in the truck’s bed. Additional modifications include reducing the truck’s roof by 4.5” and shortening its bed by 4.5” as well. This still running vintage truck sold at the 2018 show for a whopping $34,100.
