6 Forgotten Ford Pickups We Want To Restore

We all dream of uncovering the ever-elusive barn find, and these abandoned Ford trucks are some of the ones we'd save. Whether these trucks were parked for mechanical failure or just neglect is up for debate, but either way, they'd make for a cool ride today and could clean up real well!

Abandoned trucks like this one deserve to be saved.

Most of us have an affinity for old trucks. They look cool, they sound cool, and they still get the job done. This list covers a few trucks we found that would make a great basis for a restoration. Maybe even a resto-mod, too!

And in fact, this one is currently being restored by one of our forum members. It looks wildly different from the picture above, and you can follow the progress here

Moss covered 1973 F100 abandoned for years.

Nature always eventually takes over. And that's the case for this 1973 F100. This one has been parked for a while, but it appears that all the body pieces are in good shape.

Abandoned trucks come with their own unique set of issues compared to trucks with high mileage. Every component needs to be examined, and you can be sure gaskets are in need of replacement. Wires are also a favorite treat for rats, and interiors can be musty.

A cleanup in process!

This older F100 is already in the process of getting its first wash after several decades. We found this one on AutoEvolution, and they go over why a thorough wash is important.

The only way to truly know the condition of any car component is to clean it. Pressure washing might be needed to get layers of buildup removed. But the best way is to scrub by hand. You'll be surprised by what you find when you physically touch a part of the car versus spraying it from a few feet away.

Farm trucks are often epic finds.

Farm trucks are unique. They can either be ridden hard and put away wet or meticulously maintained. It all depends on the owner. Typically, farmers tend to their equipment well, so you're likely going to find a decent farm truck.

This F100 is a 1974 model and was located on a farm in Kansas. MotorTrend points out that it is a base model (typical for farm use) but did have a V8 and a long bed.

That's just about all we'd need for a cool project.

Sometimes you find hundreds of old trucks.

It's almost like a dream come true. You get a lead on a specific old truck, and you stumble upon a goldmine. Hundreds of old vehicles as far as the eye can see. That's one way we found this truck on FordTruckEnthusiasts

Way back in 2016 we featured that post that showcased one person's slowly aging collection of vintage automobiles. Many of them - in fact, most - are Ford trucks. Hoarding? Maybe. But at least that's the style we can get behind.

Our forum has a dedicated section to abandoned trucks.

If you ever wanted to showcase your finds, our forum is a great place to do so. In this thread, old and abandoned dent side pickups are showcased.

One forum member from Missouri posted this quad cab beauty, along with another that was outfitted with tow mirrors and pinstriping.

At one point, a dentside was someone's pride and joy. And it looks like it wouldn't take too much to get some of these back to being roadworthy.
