5 Innovative Features of the Ford Baby Crib
The Ford Max Motor Dreams is an innovative take on a baby crib. Would you expect anything less from Ford?
1. Design
The Ford Max Motor Dreams crib is a blend of old and new, with a design that at first glance renders somewhat of a nostalgic, retro look. Its sleek, wooden panels curve around the base and are reminiscent of the styling of Woodie wagons. The rest of the design is more modern, with crisp, white framing hugging the wooden panels and slanted metal legs. The crib looks more like a custom bassinet you’d see at an expensive furniture store than in your everyday nursery, but it’s one-of-a-kind styling is just the cherry on top. Keep reading to discover the technology incorporated into the crib.
2. Lighting Feature
For all intents and purposes, the Max Motor Dreams prototype was designed with restless babies in mind. Most parents are all too familiar with the nightly routine of lulling their babies to sleep by going for a car ride, banking on the hum of the engine, the passing streetlights and the overall vibrations to induce relaxation and calm. The crib’s designers analyzed each of these elements and translated them to a much more convenient space.
The lighting feature is perhaps the most noticeable, incorporating LED lights into the upper portion of the crib that works to simulate streetlights, smoothly turning on and off to replicate the pace as you’d normally drive by them at night.
3. Sound Feature
Keeping with the theme of soothing babies to sleep, the sound elements leave little to be desired. A speaker resides underneath the crib that plays, of course, engine sounds. The white noise hum of these familiar sounds is highly effective in calming fussy or otherwise restless infants. This feature provides all of the essences of riding in a car with none of the exhaust fumes or possible noisy drivers on the road.
4. Motion Feature
Long gone are the days of having to simply rock your child in your arms to get them to fall asleep. The Max Motor Dreams does the work for you. The base of the crib rocks side to side, simulating the repetitive, gentle motions of a car ride. How does it do this? The smartphone app that accompanies the crib can actually monitor and take data during an actual car ride and then replicate those motions and slight nuances of the car.
5. Smartphone Synchronicity
You may be wondering how all of these features are synchronized so perfectly. The crib can be controlled through a smartphone app, where everything from the lighting to the sounds to the rocking motion of the crib can be orchestrated at the touch of a button. This synchronicity makes the Max Motor Dreams an impressive ‘smart’ crib, one that can uniquely contend with other tech-savvy bassinets.
Ford’s crib is only a prototype at the moment, designed to accompany the ad campaign promoting its Max line of vehicles. However, they are going to raffle off the crib and Ford is considering mass producing it due to the great amount of interest so far.
