5 Forbidden Ford Trucks We Don't Get in the USA

Ford has given us lots of vehicles over the years to keep the marketplace happy, however, there are some models that we in the states just got flat passed over for. Click through to see some of the trucks that have never touched our asphalt, yet.

1. Ford Falcon Ute - Australia

The Ute has existed in Australia since the 1930's when Ford first offered sedan-based pickup trucks in the land down under.  The Aussie Falcon Ute has always been an awesome ride, even adopting Mustang styling and V8 power in the 70's.  Today, the Falcon can be had with big V8s, turbocharged inline six cylinders, six-speed manual transmission, and sport tuned suspension.  Out of all the trucks, we can't have, this is probably the one Americans would love the most.

2. Ford Bantam - South Africa

The Bantam is a tiny little pickup truck sold in South Africa that was originally based on the Escort cars, and later the Fiesta. One of the smallest Utes ever produced, it featured equally small powerplants – the base 1.3-liter and a larger 1.6 liter.  Designed especially for the South African market, a similar truck was also sold in south america, where economy and utility were the goals.  The Bantam ceased production in 2011, meaning that you probably have a zero percent chance of ever seeing one on American roads.

3. Ford F-4000 - Brazil

Who needs an F-350 when you can get an F-4000?  This Brazilian heavy duty pickup truck has been on sale in South America since 1975 and continues to be offered in a variety of configurations. Unlike us power hungry North Americans, down south the base has at times been a slow but thrifty four-cylinder diesel.  Why would any American stop at 250 or 350 when you can move all the way up to 4000?

4. Ford F-1000 - Brazil

The F-1000, like the F-4000, is sold in Brazil.  And like the F-4000, it's quite the oddity compared to what we are used to in America.  Based on the trucks we did get in America until 1972, in Brazil they continued the same body style until the 1990s. Perhaps the most interesting thing about the F-1000 is the fact that it could be had as a two door crew cab, featuring an incredibly short bed.  One of the few things that was changed and updated over the years, however, was the available engines, with turbo diesel power as well as modern gasoline options.

5. Ford Ranger

Americans are very familiar with the Ranger nameplate, having seen it affixed to Ford's compact pickup that was sold in the U.S. until 2012.  But while you can no longer buy a new Ranger here in states, you can still buy them in 180 global markets around the world.  Thankfully, Ford has come to their senses and will offer the Ranger in American once again, reportedly for the 2019 model year.
