2024 Ford Shelby F-150 Has Supercharged Coyote V8 and Enhanced Suspension
We look at the 2024 Ford Shelby F-150 and all the details that make it special besides the $139,995 price tag.
Intro
Shelby American announces their new 2024 Shelby F-150 super truck. Only 800 examples will be built for the 2024 model year and production has already begun. The Shelby F-150 begins life as a 2024 Ford F-150 Lariat 4x4 SuperCrew before the Shelby American team begins to work their magic. There are two models available, the base truck which starts at $130,000 and a supercharged version which starts at $139,995. The supercharged version boasts 785 horsepower, which makes it significantly more powerful than the F-150 Raptor R. But the Shelby F-150 is about more than just raw power. Let’s take a look at all the details that make this truck so special.
Power and Sound
If you are going to splurge on a 2024 Shelby F-150 you have to go for the supercharged version, right? The stock 5.0L Coyote V8 makes a nice 400 horsepower. But thanks to a Gen 5 Whipple Supercharger (painted in Ford Racing Blue) the horsepower is nearly doubled to 785. And thanks to the Shelby by Borla cat-back exhaust, it sounds as good as it is powerful. Other performance goodies include an aluminum heat exchanger, high-performance fuel injectors, a carbon fiber intake tube, and a performance intake with a high-flow filter.
Suspension
The 2024 Shelby F-150 is not just a street performance truck. This super truck has the hardware to make it a formidable off-roader. The truck rides on a FOX 2.5 factory race series shock system with internal bypass shock technology. The system also includes adjustable dual-speed controls so you can fine-tune it to fit your specific driving scenario. The truck sits higher thanks to the BDS 3-inch lift system, and it rides on beefy 35-inch all-terrain tires. Those tires are wrapped around huge 22-inch Shelby alloy wheels.
Exterior Design
A standard 2024 F-150 4x4 Lariat SuperCrew starts at about $68K. So, when you spend more than double that amount on the Shelby version you want to make sure the truck stands out from the crowd. Well, don’t worry Shelby American has you covered. It starts with a full complement of available colors including Agate Black, Antimatter Blue Metallic, Atlas Blue, Avalanche Gray, Carbonized Gray Metallic, Iconic Silver, Oxford White, Rapid Red Metallic, and Star White Metallic. And from there you can choose from four different stripe colors. The truck features a dual intake hood with vents and heat extractors. You get body-color fender flares and tonneau cover along with a unique front bumper and fascia. The upper grille includes the iconic Cobra emblem.
Interior Design
Step inside the truck and it is immediately obvious that you are inside something special. The luxury quotient is ramped up thanks to custom leather and carbon fiber trim. More subtle details include billet racing pedals, embroidered floor mats, and a serialized console plaque. Tinted windows help keep prying eyes at bay.
Exclusivity
Ford sold three-quarters of a million F-Series trucks in 2023. They are not exactly rare. However, only 800 2024 Shelby F-150 trucks are going to be built. That is fewer than 20 per state. You are unlikely to ever see another one out in the wild. The $140K price also aids in the exclusivity factor. If you want something that will make even Raptor R owners a bit jealous, this is the truck for you.
Summary
This truck is jam-packed with upgrades and special features. But it is all backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty including the powertrain. You also get membership into Team Shelby and will be eligible for documentation in the official Shelby Registry. Is all this worth the high price tag? That is between you and your bank. But if I fell into a spare $140K I would be clicking HERE to contact the Shelby sales team. Make mine Oxford White with Satin Blue stripes.
